Have you ever made your own beauty products at home? I recently received an advanced copy of the book DIY Beauty by Ina de Clercq and I’m feeling inspired. The book is published by Simon and Schuster’s Adams Media and it’s available on June 4, 2019. Pick up your copy if you’re like me and you love experimenting and making lotions and potions. I think it would be fun to get together with a few girlfriends and mix up a few batches to share.
DIY Beauty has recipes for face masks, hair products, skincare products, deodorant, makeup and bath products. The recipes allow you to understand what exactly is in your product and how to customize each recipe to fit your specific needs. In addition, it contains instructions on how to make so many cult favorites. It will save you money by making these products at home.
I feel like summer is the perfect time to experiment with making some products on my own. With the kids out of school for the summer, you could spend a day making some fun bath bombs for everyone to enjoy their summer baths.
You can make homemade bath bombs such as these inspired by Lush’s Intergalactic ones
The book offers recipes for 100 products that are inspired by favorites from brands such as Kiehls, Dr. Jart+, Tom Ford, Moroccanoil, Herbivore and more. But before you get started crafting your own products you’ll want to read the first chapter. Ina explains the tools needed, along with where to purchase, how to use them and tips for packaging and storage.
Why do you need DIY Beauty?
All-natural ingredients are used for each recipe. The beauty of creating your own products is that you know EXACTLY what’s in them. Nothing is hidden within words that you can’t pronounce. I’ve been looking on Amazon for some of the ingredients that I want to pick up along with some really fun empty containers to put my products in (*see below). Think of all the gifts you could make at home too… Use fun labels and pretty packaging and you’re all set to make someone else’s day!
This twist-up lip scrub (inspired by Dior’s Lip Sugar Scrub) is just what I need to keep my lips soft and smooth and ready for lipstick.
This book is the perfect addition to my beauty arsenal. DIY Beauty is available June 4, 2019. You can purchase in stores or purchase now over on Amazon. The book can save you money on popular beauty products by making your own at home. You’ll have a hard time choosing which product to make first. It just may satisfy the inner scientist in you too!
DIY can be so much fun– especially when you have really great recipes for skincare products! That book looks fantastic!

This would be a fun book to have. I think it would make a great grad present with a few supplies. I have a few grad parties for high schoolers so I’ll have to look into it.

Oh wow! I’m impressed! Stacie xo
I’d love to learn how to make my own body scrub and bath bombs. I feel like those are two products that I could probably make way cheaper at home than what I pay for them at the stores.
