Why You NEED an Amazon Prime Membership

Do you LOVE shopping on Amazon as much as I do? Confession time… My family and I all shop on the online store several times a week. I think my kids inherited mine and my husband’s shopping addictions (yes, I have a husband who likes to shop too). Shopping is so easy with Amazon. I think they literally sell everything one could possibly need. Having an Amazon Prime membership is a no brainer for us.

This post is my reasoning for why you also need an Amazon Prime membership if you don’y already have one. Perhaps you do have a membership already and don’t know everything that’s offered. There are many hidden perks that I use that you may not know about, which in and of themselves makes the membership fee SO worth it.

Free Shipping

This one’s a no brainer that everyone knows about. When you shop eligible products they are shipped for free and usually with 2 day shipping.

Family Sharing

You can share your membership with one additional adult household member as well as with your children. They receive your prime benefits too.

Free Books Galore

This Amazon perk is my most favorite of all. Amazon has something called Amazon Prime Reading. You’re able to download 10 items at a time (think of it like a library) to peruse through at your own leisure. This includes a HUGE number of books and magazines in every genre. And my new favorite discovery is that there are TONS of books in a section called Prime Reading with Audio Available. This allows me to also download the audible version of the book for FREE. It syncs between my devices so I can pick up where I left off on any device. ALSO, I can switch between audio and reading and the app knows exactly where I left off. I have listened to/read at least a dozen books in just the past few weeks because of this.

Free Downloadable Music

Yes, I can buy songs on iTunes to make playlists for walking and such. But, with Amazon Prime Music, I can download and make playlists to keep me listening for hours for FREE with my membership that I already pay for.

Special Prime Shopping Days

Amazon hosts a few designated Prime Shopping Days that are available to members only. The shopping days include special pricing on thousands of items. I always take advantage of these days because they always have great deals, especially on Amazon devices. My most recent purchase was a Kindle Fire.

Amazon Video

Amazon Video is similar to Netflix and it’s included FREE with your Amazon Prime membership. This service offers Amazon original series, tv shows and tons of movies. You can download and watch on the go which is perfect for airplane rides. I recently started watching the Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It’s been a fun one to watch so far.

Photo Storage

If you take as many photos as I do, then your phone is filled to its storage capacity. Amazon Prime offers a FREE place to store your photos and you always have access to them when you need them.

Amazon Wardrobe

I haven’t used this service yet, but my daughter has and it’s pretty amazing. You can order a certain amount of clothing items to try on at home (I think the number of items is 8). You’re shipped a box of clothings items, shoes, etc to try on at home. You keep what fits that you like and mail back the rest and you only pay for the items that you keep. I recall my daughter ordering 8 white dresses (of her choosing) because that was what she needed and she was tired of looking in stores. She received the dresses in the mail, tried them on and purchased only what she kept. Pretty clever if you don’t have time or don’t like shopping in stores.
