6 Great Ways To Care For Your Skin

July 1, 2016

Practicing good skin care is a great idea at any age. It is usually the first thing a person notices about us, and taking time to treat our bodies well is essential. Here are six important things to remember when caring for your skin.

skincare tips

Keep Hydrated

Be sure to drink those eight glasses of water a day, as they are great for flushing out toxins and keeping our face clear. Slathering on a moisturizing lotion from head to toe is also essential for keeping that skin happy and hydrated. Try to steer clear of lotions containing a lot of alcohol, as this could have the opposite effect and dry you out.

Stay Out of the Sun

Those damaging rays can age us drastically, so lay on the SPF and break out that floppy hat if you are planning a trip to the beach. Even if you do not spend a lot of time in the sun, your daily facial moisturizer should contain SPF. This will not only keep premature wrinkles at bay, but protect you from Dark Age spots. It is absolutely essential for you to have some time of skin care to protect your from the sun most every time you go out. Especially in the Summer.

Keep Your Body Moving

Increasing blood flow will not only have your skin looking vibrant, but keeps varicose veins at bay as well. Compression clothing and proper footwear also ensure there is healthy blood flow to your veins. A simple walk or jog a few times a week will have you feeling better as well as looking great from head to toe. Having things like varicose veins can cause a lot of issues. That is why you have to keep moving. However, if you do ever get varicose veins make sure to seek treatment right away from somewhere like the Ivein vein center.

Eat Well

You have heard the expression “you are what you eat”, and it certainly rings true in skin care. A diet rich in fruits and veggies will keep a body healthy and a complexion clear. Although it is a myth that chocolate causes acne, a diet full of fats and oils are certainly not great for your skin’s wellbeing.

Be Gentle

You do not need to exfoliate daily or use abrasive scrubs on a regular basis to have beautiful skin. On the contrary, a gentle wash will clean your face well without stripping it of any moisture.

Sleep It Off

There’s a reason you look more dissolved on days that you only get a few hours of shuteye. Without enough time to restore the skin’s natural balance you are left looking tired and dull. A good eight hours will have a huge effect the brightness of your skin, so dream away.

Skin care does not have to be a chore. In fact, you should feel as though you are pampering yourself when lathering on the lotion and taking care of yourself! Have a little “me time” and enjoy.

One dress that can pretty much be worn year round… yes, please! Just change the shoes and accessories and create a whole new look. #ad

In the meantime, I’m loving this versatile style from @coldwatercreek that can be worn to brunch or lunch, to the office, or even for a night out on the town this Fall season.

It’s a soft knit that couldn’t be more comfortable. It looks great styled with a belt too.

Let’s face it, we all have insecurities. One of Let’s face it, we all have insecurities. One of mine is the vertical lip lines in and above my lips.

When @rebekahstarkey_np told me about this type of treatment, I was intrigued (but nervous). I did my research and decided it was time to just go for it.

The numbing cream and Rebekah’s skill and attention to detail made a huge difference. I didn’t feel a thing and I’m so excited to see the difference in a few short weeks.
