Jodi’s Weight Loss Journey and Tips

Hello Everyone! I am so happy to be able to contribute to Stacie’s blog again. In July I mentioned that I am on a weight loss journey and that I was a weight watchers member. I have since then cancelled my weight watchers membership. For me, it just wasn’t enough. It was great to help me keep track of my food intake, but I need to make some mental changes.

I have joined a program by Corinne Crabtree. She also has a podcast and a wonderful website. Her website is: www.pnp411.com. She teaches her members to take a hard look at ourselves and get down to the real reason that we overeat. I have been overweight for so many years and have developed many poor eating choices. Corinne is teaching me how to overcome my habits and work on developing new habits. I now journal my thoughts daily and that has really helped me in my weight loss journey. I have also joined a gym which gives me the motivation to get some exercise in.

One of the tools that I use to monitor my steps is my Fitbit Charge. I have a hard time getting a lot of steps in. I have a desk job and it is so hard to get a lot of steps in when sitting all day. The Fitbit is a great way for me to see my steps and I feel it does assist me in my weight loss journey.

Now on to some skin care and makeup. I am very into spf. For so many years I did not use any type of sun protection and as a result of that I do have sun damage on my skin. A new product for me that I have been using on my face is Australian Gold Botanical 50 sunscreen. I love this stuff! It leaves a nice matte finish on my face and does not get greasy at all during the day.

Next I have been finding myself reaching for the It Cosmetics Matte Bronzer. I am very fair and I find that this is such a great bronzer for me. A lot of bronzers pull red on me, but this one does not. It’s a beautiful color and lasts throughout the day.

Next is an oldie but goodie. The Kat Von D Shade and Light eye palette. I love this palette so much. It blends perfectly and I love the matte colors. You can do a ton of different eye looks with this and the colors are very pigmented.

I saved the best for last. I found the perfect liquid lipstick. First off I want to say I am not a fan of liquid lipsticks. I find that they are very drying and I don’t think they are flattering for women that have a lot of lines on their lips. This one is different. The brand name is Maestro by Michael Perich. He has a whole line of skincare and cosmetics. I have only tried a couple of his products, but plan on purchasing more. His liquid lipstick is amazing. The formula does not leave my lips dry and this does not emphasize my lines in my lips. The color that I have is Belize and it’s a perfect neutral color. Give this a try, you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been on a weight control journey my whole life. I don’t eat almost any processed food so that helps. Plus I’m a lifelong runner. But it’s a challenge especially when I’ve gotten older 🙁 Curious about your Maestro liquid lippie for my dry lips

I have been overweight for my whole adult life. For the past 16 years I have been on some sort of diet, but always lacked the consistency. I would do great during the week and then the weekend hit and I would go crazy with my food. Corinne’s program is teaching me about myself and how to eat clean without having to track points or calories. It’s been such a blessing. The Maestro liquid lippie is truly amazing. I normally hate liquid lipsticks, but the formula on this feels different. Let me know if you try it and what your thoughts are. Have a great day!

Aloha Jodi. I’m happy you’re taking important steps to improve your health. I used to be on the heavy side too when I was in my late 20s. I have dropped weight so much since then (I am now 43). I lead a very active lifestyle, vegetarian for years, vegan, vegetarian again, vegan for good. I am at my healthiest weight for my height now. I wish you luck and hope to see/read your next post again.

Thank you so much Kathryne for your comment. I feel it’s so important to take care of ourselves. For so many years I tried to lose weight- in my heart I want to be healthy- but it’s so hard sometimes. I am learning about they why’s of my eating habits and I am making changes. It’s a very slow process, but I know that this is a good program for me. I am 42 and I am tired of letting my weight dictate the things that I can and can not do. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Congratulations on finding a weight loss plan that you like. You are definitely on the right track.
I’m very curious about your lipstick choice. The color looks so pretty. Do you notice a fragrance to it?

Hi Marcial- thank you so much for your comment. Yes, there is a fragrance to it- I am trying to pinpoint the smell. It has a normal lipstick smell to it with a hint of vanilla. I don’t notice any smell though when I put it on. The color is gorgeous- I tend to always go for the more neutral shades. This one is a perfect neutral shade. Have a great day!

Great to meet you, Jodi! I can’t live without my Fitbit. It’s such a great gadget to keep track on my steps and activity.

Hi Leelo- I love my fitbit. My husband bought it for me for Christmas. Its such a great tool to see where you are in the day in terms of movement. I have it set for 7,000 steps. Most of the time I do get them all in, but during the week it is a challenge. I have a desk job so sometimes by the end of the workday I only have in around 3,000 steps. So on those days I know I need to get to the gym and get on the treadmill. Hope you have a fantastic week!

Congrats on the journey! I’ve been making some changes which should result in a bit of weight-loss (crosses fingers, lol!) and have been thinking of a FitBit too. They seem like such handy little gadgets.

Congratulations on sticking with it and finding things that help motivate you. It’s so easy to give up…I know, I’ve done it hundreds of times. I have the Fitbit on my Christmas list. I love that sunscreen. It works so well under makeup. I also have and love the KVD palette. It’s amazing! I’m going to have to try the IT Bronzer…I have trouble finding shades that work for me too. I love their CC cream. It’s my go to for light quick coverage! Keep up the good work on your weight loss journey!

I’ve been using the NEW RoC Line Smoothing 2-Step Peel Pads, and I love how simple they are to use.

Step 1 gently exfoliates with a blend of glycolic, lactic, mandelic, and other exfoliating acids to remove dull, rough skin.

Step 2 follows with RoC’s patented Clinical Retinol plus Ectoin to help smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles while supporting your skin barrier. The best part? It takes just a couple of minutes and fits seamlessly into my evening skincare routine.

At 61, my skin feels noticeably smoother and looks brighter after using them, and with continued use they’re designed to improve texture, uneven tone, dullness, and the appearance of wrinkles.

At around $30 they’re an affordable way to enjoy a professional-inspired peel at home.

Are you as excited as I am about this new at-home dual-step treatment?

There’s something about a makeup collection that’s There’s something about a makeup collection that’s beautiful on the outside AND has a beautiful story behind it.

I’m playing with the Chantecaille Lion Collection for the first time today. The gorgeous shades are inspired by the strength and beauty of the lion and the colors of the African landscape.

But what I love most about Chantecaille is that their love of beauty goes beyond makeup. The brand has a long-standing commitment to wildlife conservation, and their lion initiatives supports Lion Guardians and their efforts to protect these magnificent endangered animals and preserve the communities that live alongside them.

And can we talk about these colors?! The warm, earthy tones are absolutely gorgeous for creating a soft, sophisticated makeup look — and yes, it’s a limited-edition collection but I’m already wishing these shades would stay around forever!

Would you wear this color story? Tell me in the comments.

I like to shout from the rooftops when I find good I like to shout from the rooftops when I find good beauty products that work well for my mature skin in hopes that others will discover them too.

Be sure to let me know if there’s anything you’ve been loving lately too.💖

Today I’m including:
•a body makeup product that helps cover, disguise and blur my dark spots from sun damage from too many years spent in the sun.

•an at-home FDA cleared fractional laser to improve the appearance of my skin and even help get rid of some of those dark spots. I’m using it nightly.

•a beautiful pink lipstick that is like happiness in a tube

•an excellent facial spf product that protects my skin when I’m outdoors. I purchased mine when I was in France.

•some tasty gummy supplements I’ve been using including a multivitamin and a gummy prebiotic and probiotic combo to keep my gut happy

•and a balm that works great for keeping my skin hydrated that I like to dab under my eyes and on the lines above my lips because hydration helps make fine lines look better/less obvious when I look in the mirror.
