September 14, 2017

Are you looking for a skincare mask to improve the look of your skin?  A few of us makeup obsessed moms decided to put the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask to the test.  We each tried the mask out and gave our opinion and review of the product.  We thought it would be fun for you all to see what each of us thought since we all have different experiences with products.

REN skincare review

Some of the REN skincare line at my local Sephora.

The REN mask retails for $55.  It can be purchased at Sephora, Beauty Brands and other retailers of fine skin care products.   The mask is formulated for all skin types.  The box contains a 1.7 ounce oz bottle of the mask along with a muslin cloth.  Directions:

  • Apply a generous amount onto clean skin over the face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
  • Leave for 10 minutes.
  • Dampen enclosed cloth and gently wipe off mask.
  • Rinse skin with warm water.
  • Slight tingling may be experienced during application.
  • Use weekly.
  • Not recommended for sensitive skin or for use just after shaving.

Ingredients:

  • Glycol Acid from Pineapple: Gently dissolves dead skin cells and supports natural collagen production.
  • Papain from Papaya: Exfoliates the outer layer of the skin, encouraging cell turnover and smoothing fine lines.
  • Omegas 3 and 7: Nourish, soothe, and repair the skin to ensure skin remains calm and soothed.

Water, Polysorbate 60, Glycerin, Lecithin, Lactic Acid, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Xanthan Gum, Maltodextrin, Sodium Lactate, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Passiflora Quadrangularis Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Alcohol Denat., Fragrance*, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Linalool, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Oil, Citral, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Bisulfite.

Amy’s review:

I was so excited to try the Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask from Ren, because who doesn’t love an awesome mask? It promises to exfoliate, improve skin tone and radiance and help with fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds amazing, right? I have pretty sensitive skin, so I was worried that this mask would be too strong for me, but I was wrong. I smoothed it on, it had a light scent to it, and set my timer for 10 min. By the end my skin was a little itchy, but noting dramatic. Once I rinsed it off the itching subsided and I was left with super soft, happy skin. I have horrid pores, and I do feel like it smoothed them over a little. My final review on this mask? I will definitely be using it again, I’m hoping the results get better with each use.

Tamara’s review:

In the past week, I used the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask twice and I loved the results, but beware…this mask is not for the sensitive skinned. I do not consider myself to have sensitive skin at all. In fact, I use some pretty potent skin care items regularly with no irritation. The first time I used this mask however, I felt it and not in a good way. If you’ve ever over-exfoliated your skin, you will know the discomfort I’m talking about. The mask was mildly irritating from the moment I put it on and I noticed red patches popping up in several places. The recommended ten minutes was about all I could handle. I used the included cloth to remove it and rinsed with warm water as instructed and immediately felt relief and my skin felt nice and hydrated even though the red patches remained. Thankfully, they were gone by the next morning and my skin had a nice glow and softness to it. Before my second use, I was much smarter and made sure to avoid using any exfoliants in my skin care routine that day and I also skipped using my Clarisonic to cleanse with. What a difference that made. The mask did not feel uncomfortable at all and I even left it on for 15 minutes. I did notice a slight sting when I used my vitamin C serum afterwards, but it quickly subsided and my skin looked and felt amazing afterwards. My pores looked smaller and the overall tone of my skin was even, bright, and healthy looking. Even my teenager who was in the bathroom with me (of course, moms never get any privacy right?) said my skin had a glow to it. I plan to keep this in my regular mask rotation as a weekly or biweekly treatment and I’m excited to see what long-term benefits it produces. I’d also like to add how much I appreciate the packaging. It reminds me of the old Playtex baby bottles that had the liner. Anyway, I feel like it will help me get every last drop out of the bottle and I appreciate that.

 Stacie’s review:

I’m a skincare and facial mask hoarder.  I enjoy trying out new products often.  I was thrilled to try this mask from REN.  The line has a good reputation for all of their skincare products.  I’ve actually used the Glycol Lactic Masque at least a half-dozen times.  I use it in the evening after my skin is cleansed.  I put on a nice thick layer and go about my business for 10 minutes before rinsing off with the enclosed muslin cloth.  The mask felt comfortable on my skin.  I didn’t have any stinging or redness like the other ladies.  My skin feels so soft, clean and bright following the mask treatment.  I will continue to use this product once per week to aid in the skin brightening benefits.

As you can see from the pictures above, this mask worked great with my skin.  I had no redness or reaction like the other ladies.  My skin may just be more used this and other products than the other ladies.

How do you two manage to still look flawless with a face mask on? I’ve used it a few more times now and I’m so impressed with the results!

I just love reading three experiences. We all have different skin and I know mine would be more sensitive to the glycol than yours. I’m glad everyone found a way to continue using this.

I loved reading all the different reviews! I have sensitive skin, so I appreciate the warning of not exfoliating the day or two before to avoid redness.

One of my favorite jackets is the lightweight Pack One of my favorite jackets is the lightweight Pack-It Jacket. It’s a great option, especially when I’m on the go! #ad

It has adjustable elastic to cinch in the waist, a hood when I need it in the rain (this hair is a lot of work so I have to protect it)!😅

And the best part is that it can be rolled up into its zipper pouch and tossed it into my bag so I have it when I really need it! It came in handy on my boat ride yesterday!

It comes in several different colors as well as inclusive sizing, so there’s a jacket for everyone! Oh, and it makes a great gift too!

There’s just something about the long slow days and nights of summer that brings back so many fond memories over the past 60 years.

Next week is Memorial Day weekend which I think officially kicks off the season with outdoor bbqs, swimming all day, popsicles, sundresses and sleeveless tops, beach days, vacations and unfortunately, mosquitoes.
