The COVID-19 pandemic has put the entire world to a standstill. Governments have had to issue total or partial lockdown in an effort to lower the spread of the coronavirus. But, with people being forced to stay indoors, going to the gym for a workout is out of the question. The good news is you can still achieve your daily workout routine in the confines of your home. Unlike going to the gym, working out at home saves you time and money, and most importantly, you are not exposed to contaminated equipment or air. Working out at home is just as exciting as it challenging, which is why we have come up with a few tips to help you be successful at it.
Be Mindful of Your Form
The better form you have when working out, the better the results. It is important to know which muscles you should target in each workout to avoid injury and wasted energy. Read, watch videos and visit websites like 30 Days Fitness Challenge that provide many tips, like for example this page all about planks for beginners. Focus on perfecting one exercise at a time. Don’t worry about low stamina; short exercises with the proper form are still effective. If you are not sure if you are doing the correct thing, try exercising in front of a mirror.
Set Goals
What do you aim to gain by working out? Is it to lose weight or to keep fit? You need to set specific goals to refer to whenever you need motivation. Begin with short-term goals that you can achieve easily. Keep adjusting them to challenge your endurance and stamina. Look back each time and evaluate your achievement, then set higher goals.
Shake It Up and Try to Keep It Fun
One thing that you will need in plenty during this lockdown period is motivation. This is why you need to make your workout routines fun and exciting. Try introducing new exercises and other variations of the classic exercises. Retain the exercises you like in the routine and alternate them every day. Try streaming dance workouts such as Zumba, Salsa, Hip-hop, and fun activities such as games. You can also involve your quarantine partners for a more fun workout experience.
Schedule It In
Creating a schedule for your home workout can be difficult. There are so many things to consider; your pet’s schedule, work schedule, house chores, family members, preparing meals, and so on. To create a schedule, decide how long the sessions should be, what time, where, how frequent, with whom, and with what equipment. Distribute the time among the various exercises; flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance.
Check Your Health
As much as working out is important, your health should be your priority. If you are a beginner, start slowly as you build up strength and endurance. Don’t start exhausting yourself immediately. It is okay to keep pushing yourself but don’t exercise when in pain. If you are above 45 years of age, have had injuries in the past or suffer from a chronic illness, consult your medical professional before starting a workout routine.
The only thing holding you from reaching your goals is consistency. Even during tight schedules, a 10-minute workout will provide health benefits. Ensure you are getting better and pushing yourself further to achieve your fitness goals.

It’s my husband more than me that has been doing more at home. Plus now that the weather is nice he’s biking about 20-25 miles almost every day.
