Bolder Not Older with Hair Biology

June 22, 2020

*This post is sponsored by Hair Biology. All opinions are my own.

Have you noticed changes in your hair as you’ve gotten older? Both science and common-sense show that there are real changes that happen to our hair as we age. Chalk it up to the biology of changing hormones and the various stages of menopause. You may experience dryness, thinning, greying and/or differences in the quality of your hair. My hair is super thick and has a bit of a coarseness to the individual strands. I’ve been noticing that not only is my skin getting drier as I age, but that my hair is getting drier as well. Therefore, I like to use products that are going to provide moisture and hydration to keep my hair smooth, shiny and soft.

I’ve had long hair for most of my entire life (see photo at the bottom of this post of a 25-year-old me). I feel more confident with my long hair. Society seems to have some unspoken rule about women cutting their hair to shorter styles as they age. I might be a rule breaker or a rebel when it comes to this one. I don’t let anyone tell me what I should be doing just because I’m a grandma in my mid 50’s.  I choose to live “Bolder not Older” every single day. I’m owning my long hair style and embracing this stage of my life.

Bolder not Older with Hair Biology

Hair Biology is a newly available line of haircare products that are formulated to keep our hair looking beautiful as we get older. The products are designed to meet the changing needs of our hair. They have three different product collections for women over 45+ to help treat hair challenges that are often experienced.

Hair Biology collections for the changes in our hair:

  1. Going gray or silver – Hair Biology Silver & Glowing Purple Shampoo and Purple Conditioner
  2. Coarse hair – Hair Biology Soft & Hydrated Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner
  3. Thinning hair – Hair Biology Full & Vibrant Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve been using the Soft & Hydrated products to keep my long locks moisturized and shiny. The collection includes a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner and deep hydration mask. The products cleanse, hydrate and nourish to bring back shine to dry, damaged or brittle hair. I use the shampoo and conditioner when I wash my hair and substitute with the Deep Hydration Mask (instead of conditioner) every other week. The hydrating hair mask is used for intense hydration and helps protect against color fade. After using these products my hair feels soft and silky and I can’t stop touching it.

In addition, there are two products that I like to call “hero products” in the line.

  1. Argan Oil Taming Serum – Infused with biotin and antioxidants to increase the hair’s elasticity, restore shine and vibrancy.
  2. Thickening Treatment – Infused with biotin and caffeine to create thicker fuller hair.

Hero is an accurate adjective to describe how I feel about the Argan Oil Taming Serum. It helps to keep the frizzies away. I apply it to my damp hair from mid-length to the ends before blowouts. I also smooth some on to the crown area to help tame my hair as needed between washings. My hair feels the softest it’s felt in a long time and I credit this hair smoothing serum as my hair’s hero.

All of the are products free of parabens and dyes. Each collection is designed for the unique needs of our hair. The Hair Biology collection of products is exclusively available at Target online and in select stores nationwide. Be sure to peruse the hair care aisle next time you’re on a Target run to see this new line of incredible and AFFORDABLE products.

This is me way back in 1990. I’m definitely feeling much bolder today than my 25 year old self!

You have the best hair. If I could get mine looking so healthy I’d be a convert to Hair Biology myself. I love my longer hair and want it to look as lush as yours.

It’s technically a midi, but more maxi on me because I’m a petite 5’1”. Available in 2 color options and lots more similar styles. And there’s even a warehouse sale happening right now with dresses starting at $39.

Happy new month friends! I’m sharing a cute outfit Happy new month friends! I’m sharing a cute outfit that’s perfect for a summer day of running my errands. My new large terry cloth tote is so fun and unique. It’s great for travel or even a day at the beach too.

Anybody traveling for the 4th of July weekend? We’re going to our usual destination where we hang with our kids and grandkids to enjoy the celebration which means I will be busy today getting ready to go.🎆

The maxi dress has a raw hem so it’s super easy to cut without having to get it hemmed. That worked out perfectly for me and my petite 5’1” height. I cut 3 inches off the bottom of the dress and now it fits me exactly how I like it. I love the color too!

I’m loving the back of the dress so I thought I’d share it in a video when we were walking back from the restaurant after dinner. The restaurant is called Hacienda and it’s by the marina in Cabo. We’ve been going there for years. This trip we went there for brunch too and it was excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you’re ever in Cabo.

Whether I’m spending days or nights by the water, I skip the heavy, full-coverage products and reach for lightweight favorites that let my skin breathe while still giving me that healthy, radiant glow.

Think: sheer coverage, a touch of bronzer, creamy blush, and plenty of luminosity. The goal isn’t a perfect makeup look—it’s looking like the best version of yourself while enjoying every minute of vacation.

I love that they have live music playing out on the patio almost every time we’re there. The band was exceptional this time. They played cover songs and sounded amazing.🎶

The food is excellent. I love that they have some vegetarian options. I always get their delicious beet salad. This time I also got the vegetarian empanadas and had a big scoop of mashed potatoes which were heavenly with crisped parmesan cheese on top.😋

This outfit checked all the boxes for my flight to Cabo, brunch and a few hours of looking at real estate.

@coldwatercreek has some great options for layering any time of year. And I must admit, I’m kind of obsessed with this linen jacket. I might need to add another color.😉
