Having glowing youthful skin long after we are actually glowing and youthful is a dream for most women. It’s not as hard as it sounds and doesn’t require hours of make-up application or resorting to plastic surgery. For most of us it’s just a matter of changing our skin care routine.
The earlier we start taking proper care of our skin, the longer it will retain its natural beauty and glow. If we nourish our skin on the outside with care, and look after our diet and exercise on the inside, there is no reason we can’t have glowing flawless skin, naturally at any age.
Here is a five-step daily plan to get your skin in tip-top condition:
1. Don’t use soap – use a facial cleanser
Soap can still be very drying on the skin and if not rinsed properly can leave a residue behind so I recommend not using soap on your face – save it for the rest of you. Opt instead for a special facial cleanser to wash your face. That way, you can select a product which has been designed specifically for the skin on your face, but also for your particular skin type. There are many types of cleansers out there so choose one you like and feel comfortable with, whether it’s a liquid, cream, balm or mousse, and make sure it’s right for your skin type.
2. Follow your cleanser with a toner
Toner products don’t have to be harsh – there are many types available now and they help to reduce the oiliness left behind after cleansing. Many are now designed to help smooth out our skin and unclog pores. Using a toner after cleansing will ensure your skin is clean, clear and open, ready to receive the moisturizer which you are about to apply in the next stage.
3. Use a moisturizer
Stage three to having flawless skin is to use a moisturizer on your face and neck area to keep your skin hydrated and beautiful. Buy a day cream and a night cream as they have very different properties and make sure to use them routinely, on a daily basis.
Using a moisturizer which is designed for your particular skin type helps to keep your skin looking fresh and also stops your skin from producing too much oil and becoming greasy or prone to spots, as the moisturizer provides the hydration.
4. Use an eye cream
For maximum effect it’s good to use a cream or moisturizer designed specifically for the eye area, as well as your usual facial moisturizer. The skin around the eyes is far more delicate than the rest of our face, so a product designed specifically for this skin is ideal. Again, you can get different day and night products and ones designed to tackle specific issues such as dark circles or wrinkles.
5. Use an exfoliating product weekly
Exfoliating scrubs and other products help to clear away dead skin cells which can build up over time, so using a product like this once a week will help to keep our skin clean and clear. Removing the dead skin cells on a regular basis means our skin is clear and much more able to absorb the moisture from our products.
Use a gentle exfoliating cream if you have sensitive skin – just make sure to choose the right one for your skin type. This process will also ensure any residual make-up or oil on your skin from during the week is all cleared away, leaving your skin glowing and ready to start the next week.
If you want to create a natural tan effect opt for self-tanning lotion which has been specifically designed for your face and apply it carefully to avoid streaks or an unhealthy orange effect. Alternatively, you can try moisturizers that have a hint of tan – you apply them as normal and they will gradually add a tan to your face over time, creating a natural look without the streaks or mess – the appearance of a sun tan without the dangers of the sun.
The same effect can be achieved with clever use of make-up. Bronzing powders and foundations can be used to create glowing flawless skin for the summer without altering your natural skin color at all.
If you follow these five steps, your skin will be in its top condition, glowing and flawless and ready to show off to the world. It will be in perfect condition to use as a base for your make-up and ready to show your face to the world in whichever style you choose.

Using coconut oil as a cleanser rather than soap has made such a difference in my skin tone and glow (that and eating a very clean diet! 😊)

I do all of the above! It’s crazy to me how I used to treat my skin when I was younger… no sunscreen, never washed off my makeup, washed with hand soap on the rare occasion I DID wash my face and I always used hand cream to moisturize… my skin would definitely revolt if I did any of that now!!!

Oh gosh, me too! I mostly used Ivory Soap as my cleanser and buff puffs to exfoliate. Stacie xo

A variety of treatments and products are used to protect skin from environmental hazards and combat fine lines, wrinkles, and a dull, uneven skin tone. Estheticians are also skilled in managing conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and dry skin, to name just a few. And finally, skin care treatments are wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating. If smooth, healthy skin is your goal, visiting a skin care professional can benefit you.
