Hi Everyone! Today I’d like to introduce you to one of my online friends… I met Annette on Instagram a long while back and we’ve been following each other’s journey ever since. She’s been a supportive friend to me and I think I’ve been supportive to her as well. Annette is easy to connect with because she’s so “real” to me. I hope you’ll follow her on Instagram and get to know her and her messages and lessons that are beneficial to all of us.
Tell us a little bit about YOU:
I’m an accidental influencer! When I turned 50, I left a huge corporate job that was killing me and threw my hat into reinventing my life with more joy and meaning. I did an intake of my life and realized I needed to improve every aspect of my relationships, my finances, and my quality of love and joy.
The kids were grown and out of the house, and my husband still worked as an attorney in his practice, so I had the time to think about how I could inspire myself to make the changes I wanted in my life.
Immediately, things started happening and I was enjoying life again. It was terrific!! I had so many people asking me what I changed and how did I do it, that I set out to create a roadmap of how I would help others. Little did I know that it would resonate with a lot of great women who loved the idea of reinvention and who wanted ideas and guidance about starting their own reinvention in style, beauty, and of course in fulfillment and happiness. That was the birth of ReInventing50s.
I thrive on inspirational quotes. Please share one of your favorites or a mantra that you live by:
“This too shall pass.” This saying takes so much of the stress out of life for me! We’ve all heard it, but it is sooo true! Half the things we worry about never happen and when they do, they pass by us and get resolved. Things are always changing, and we need to be able to accept that and move with the changes, even hard ones.
Favorite triumph, collaboration or something you’ve experienced that you are proud of:
I recently partnered with an incredible clothing brand that I am truly in love with and that I think will serve a lot of my women. It will enable women to feel great about themselves and that means the world to me. I have been working on this collaboration for months and it was a lot of happy tears to finally get a chance to bring something of great value to my community. It’s unique and will make a difference in women and their self-esteem. Stay tuned!!
Biggest disappointment or let down that you’ve learned from:
Wow. Good question! I was once “let down” by an PR firm for a potential participation on a diversity initiative collaboration. The ultimate candidate who got the opportunity to represent the over 50 minority crowd did not have ANY diversity initiatives or voice in that area. So it was very hard to accept and I felt cheated. But!!!….this taught me so many lessons!
1. That you can put your everything into a project and it may not get heard and succeed. But that’s okay!! The message is more important than the messenger.
2. Have a lot of passion projects. You can’t live or die if your ‘one thing’ doesn’t work out
3. And you never know what or who you will meet, even if things don’t work out. So still say yes to everything.
So much goodness came from the situation. I met wonderful people and gained additional opportunities for other projects that I loved just as much as the original one.
Favorite piece of advice for others (life, blogger, influencer or family, etc):
Nurture your family. Things can get crazy out there in the wide, wide world, but your true tribe is your family. It makes a world of difference, regardless of what line of work you are in, because if your family is thriving, you will too.
From the business of influencing perspective: You must know who you are OBJECTIVELY and know the message you want to share. Repeat after me: Know who you are and your message. It will fast-track your success!!
I’m all about women supporting other women. How can we support you? Feel free to share your links for connecting as well:
We all love Instagram! That is my main platform and I enjoy interacting with people there the most @ReInventing50s. And when the algorithm changes or things get to be too much, I shift to having more fun on my website because that’s where the party is right now! www.ReInventig50s.com
