Can you believe it’s about to be 2023??!! What a fast year 2022 was (I think I say that every year). For the past 7 or 8 years or so, I’ve chosen a “word of the year”. My word is something that I focus on to make myself better. It took me a while to come up with my word for 2023 and I’ve decided that it’s going to be ACTION. I like this word because it can be applied to so many different aspects of my life.
Action: noun
- the process or state of acting or of being active
- something done or performed; act; deed
- an act that one consciously wills and that may be characterized by physical or mental activity
- actions, habitual or usual acts; conduct
- energetic activity

Goals for my word for 2023
I plan to take action on the things that I want to achieve instead saying that I’m going to do something. We all know how that is, don’t we?
I will take the action to purge my closets down to be more minimalist.
I will take action to organize drawers, shelves, etc so that I don’t waste time looking for things because I will actually know where they are.
I will take action to volunteer somewhere on a regular basis. I used to be a member of my local Lion’s Club and found the work that we did very rewarding, but I want to find something that speaks to me more.
I will take action to plan out my content for my blog and social media instead of always flying by the seat of my pants. My inner self is a procrastinator and it’s a trait that I’m not exactly proud of.
I’m going to do a blog redesign and take action to recommit myself to posting more regularly. Social media is fun, but our blogs are something that we actually have full ownership of. I always feel refreshed and more energized with a new design (I’ve had a blog since 2012).
I will take action to complete the online courses that I signed myself up for. I started taking a skincare course and a photography course. They’re both really good, but I need to set aside the time to spend on learning.
I’m sure there will be many more situations that will come up throughout the year that will need my action. I plan to be keep the word at the front of my mind and form better habits.
