Empowered Women Blog Series – Volume 8

I am so happy to say that I’m giving new life to my Empowered Women blog series in this new year. I know that you all enjoyed being introduced to other wonderful women who truly inspire me. You can read my previous posts in this series here. Social media has been a place that I have personally found a lot of my tribe of friends. Today I’d like to introduce you to my friend Gwen who I met on Instagram within the past year. Not only is Gwen a beautiful and kind friend, she shares a wealth of information that I know you all will appreciate.

Empowered Women Blog Series Volume 8

Tell us a little bit about YOU:

Hmmm… I’m a mom, wife – new grandma (you can call me Gigi!), living in sunny (most of the time) South Florida. I’ve been in marketing, PR, & business development forever, and got started on social media – Instagram @gwenliveswell almost four years ago – about the same time I got remarried! I actually started photographing food pics during our honeymoon, lol.

I thrive on inspirational quotes. Please share one of your favorites or a mantra that you live by:

Life is a gift. Wake up and realize it.

Favorite triumph, collaboration or something you’ve experienced that you are proud of:

Aside from my beautiful kids, I created a local newspaper for teenagers that within four years had a readership of 100,000, won a national award, and was delivered directly to student’s classrooms in Palm Beach County, as well as local businesses.

Biggest disappointment or let down that you’ve learned from:

Letting go of my newspaper because of personal reasons was very difficult for me. I still miss it, but what I learned was not to be afraid to take chances. If you don’t take chances you don’t grow – personally or professionally.

Favorite piece of advice for others (life, blogger, influencer or family, etc):

If you are passionate about something, go for it! Don’t let others – anyone! – influence you not to follow your dreams, whatever they may be. Make a plan, and stick to it, although – life is what happens when you make other plans! But you get the idea.

What keeps you motivated?

I like pushing myself. Setting goals. Trying to achieve them. It’s just something within me. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing ideas come to fruition. and if for some reason, they don’t, I’ve at least learned something but I can take to my next project. It’s always a win-win.

 

If you could be any profession in the world, what would it be?

I’d love to be a comedian, or a best selling novelist. 

How do you like to relax?

I enjoy reading outside by the pool, or cozied up on the couch. I also like to try new recipes.
