Hello, my name is Jodi Maile, and I am very excited to be contributing to the Makeup Obsessed Mom’s blog. I am also a makeup obsessed mom and I am thrilled to be able to share with you some of my favorite products. A little about myself… I am 42 years old and I live in Minnesota with my husband and two boys. My oldest is 18 and just graduated high school and will be attending college this fall. My youngest is 15 and is going to be a sophomore this fall. We are very active with our boys.
During my down time, I enjoy reading, shopping, working out and watching beauty related videos on youtube. I am on a weight loss journey and am following the Weight Watchers plan. I have lost 35 pounds and still have a way to go, so from time to time, you might see some health related items in my favorites.
Now that I have introduced myself, I would like to show you a few of my favorite current products. I have many, it was hard to narrow it down to 5!
The first thing I want to talk about is skin care. For many years I never used sunscreen. As a result of not using sunscreen I do have some sun damage. I have been consistent in using sun screen for about the past 2 years. Something that I use every day on my neck is Dr. Denese SPF 30 Neck Defense Day Cream. This product is amazing and effective. It leaves your neck hydrated but not greasy feeling.
I am obsessed with Shiseido Sports BB Spf 50. I saw several girls on youtube talk about this, so I had to pick it up. I am so glad that I did, it’s so good! I prefer a medium to full coverage foundation that is long-lasting. When I think long-lasting I think 10-12 hours. This BB cream gives me exactly that, plus it gives me the SPF protection. I apply it with a beauty blender and it gives amazing coverage.
Next up is eyes. If you are in the market for some new eye shadows, I can not recommend this Viseart Palette enough. Quite frankly, any of the palettes would be amazing, but I picked up the palette called Cashmere. It’s a very neutral palette, which is what I tend to gravitate to. The colors are highly pigmented, blend well and look stunning on the eyes.
I am obsessed with this L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara. I have to admit, I am a mascara snob. I don’t usually like drug store mascara. This one is perfect for me though. It separates the lashes and holds the curl. I love the brush and the formula. A lot of people say it’s a dupe for the Better Than Sex mascara, to be honest, I didn’t like that one. But I sure do like this L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara. Plus it doesn’t flake on me and for anyone who wears contacts, you sure don’t want your mascara to flake on you.
The last product I chose was the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lipgloss. I have shade Groovy which is a nude pink color. The reason I love this is because you actually get pigment that shows on your lips. It’s a beautiful formula and does last for quite a while.

These are all amazing product suggestions, I am very tempted to grab that BB cream….I love a bit of a lighter foundation in the summer that still gives good coverage.

Welcome, nice to ‘e’meet you. I have to get that L’Oreal mascara. I do love TF’s but if I can find a less expensive alternative I’ll be thrilled. The BM Gen Nude collection has some of my favorite lip products.

Hi Marcia- thank you so much for the comment. Yes, give the Loreal mascara a try and see what you think. It’s at a pretty good price point and sometimes Ulta has buy 1 get 1 half off. The BM collection is beautiful, I want to get some of their liquid lip products. I’ve heard good things about them. Hope you have a great day!

Nice to meet you, Jodi! I have that Viseart mini-palette and you’re reminding me that i should use it more. I have several of the full size ones, and Paris Nights and Neutral Matte are still my faves. I am intrigued by Dr. Denese Neck Cream SPF 30 – I haven’t been using SPF on my neck and clearly I should!

Hi Allison! Thank you so much for the comment. I have the Paris Nights and Neutral Matte one as well and love them. I really want the cool matte palette, it looks beautiful. You just can’t go wrong with Viseart. Give the Dr. Denese a try. Its wonderful. I was at the lake today and did not get burned at all. I also like the fact that it’s not greasy, it absorbs so well into the skin. Thanks again for the comment!
