Dropping temps and icy winds can mean only one thing – winter is on its way. Although winter can bring out a festive cheer in us it can also blame havoc with our hair and skin so it’s important to follow some essential beauty tips and survive winter in style.
Stay hydrated
With colder temps our want to drink, particularly, cold water goes down. This, combined with central heating can play havoc to our skin, drying it out and causing blotchy patches. It’s important to combat these drying effects by staying hydrated and flushing out toxins. If water doesn’t seem appealing how about herbal teas or clear soups for ensuring you get a good intake of H20.
Stay Cool
Another problem with cool temps is that it increases our desire for warmer baths and showers that leave skin red and cause it to dry out rapidly. Instead don’t be inclined to turn the taps up just because it’s winter, keep water temps as normal and pat skin dry (instead of rubbing) to stop skin peeling. Lastly apply a body lotion, like Salon System Thai Skin Therapy Balance Moisturiser, while skin is still damp for better penetration.
Wear a Mask
During winter your hair is exposed to all the elements and is also at risk of drying out. Remember to regularly condition, after shampooing, but consider treating dried out hair to an oil treatment such as the Babyliss Pro Argan Oil Restoration Mask. This treatment is specially formulated for over stressed hair and will sooth and condition hair back to health and beauty and is available from any reputable beauty product suppliers such as http://www.coolblades.co.uk.
You can also protect your hair, when out and about, with a hat but seek out one in cotton as wool tends to leave hair at risk of static and the dreaded hat hair.
Avoid Cracks
Your lips are one of the first signs of winter taking it’s toll since damage manifests itself in cracked and flaky lips. To protect your lips from the cold elements first ensure that they are exfoliated; you can do this with your normal exfoliator applied gently over your lips. Also invest in a moisturising balm to protect the lips and apply frequently (try to avoid menthol which can inflame a cracked pout). Most of all try to avoid the temptation to lick lips, which will only dry them out more. Follow these tips now and have the perfect kissable pout for under that mistletoe.
What do you do to get ready for the winter months?
