Stains are always a nuisance, no matter if it comes to our clothes or other surfaces. However, it seems like it’s not possible to prevent them from happening. Regardless of how careful and caring we are, there comes a time when an ugly makeup stain appears here or there. There are some easy and fast ways for makeup stain removal that I’d like to share with you today.
There are various methods that can be used for cleaning makeup stains. However, it is important for you to know that if makeup stains dry on a piece of fabric or another surface, they can get pretty hard to clean, so they need to be cleaned right away when possible.
Here are several tips that will help you to clean the most common makeup stains:
Liquid Face Foundation Stains
Liquid face foundation is probably among the best friends a woman can have in her cosmetic bag. However, it is also one of major causes for critical situations, because there is nothing more unpleasant than staining your shirt or dress with face foundation, especially when you’re in a rush for work or an important meeting.
When it comes to liquid face foundation stains removal, it is not a good idea to use a standard makeup cleaning product on the stain because most such products usually contain oily components that could make things even worse.
A good idea is to first remove the excessive liquid foundation with a cotton pad to prevent it spilling all over the fabric. Then, if the product is oil-free, you can apply some shaving foam on the stain, gently rub the fabric, rinse thoroughly with warm water and wash the piece of clothing individually. Mixing the shaving foam with a drop or two of alcohol is also a great idea.
If, however, the liquid foundation is not oil-free, you can use dishwashing detergent that is made especially for oily stains. After rubbing the stain individually, the entire piece of clothing should be washed. You can use mild shampoo, too.
Compact Powder Stains
Compact powder stains are a bit easier to clean in comparison to the liquid foundation ones. When it comes to such stains, there is one important thing you should remember. Do not use your hands to remove the compact powder particles because this will only help them penetrate more deeply in the fabrics. If there is a stain left, simply treat it with a mixture of equal parts of warm water and white vinegar. The same hand-made mixture also helps to get rid of makeup stains from surfaces such as mirrors and bathroom sinks.
Self-tan Face and Body Bronzer Stains
These stains are among the hardest ones to clean, as they go on underwear, clothes, sheets, etc. Still, self-tan face and body bronzer stains are not impossible to clean. First, treat them with warm water and dishwashing detergent and gently rub the fabric. You can also use a soft brush or sponge for maximum effect. After you do that, wash the piece of clothing with a suitable washing powder. This cleaning hack is provided by End Of Tenancy Cleaners Southfields.
Lipstick Stains
Lipstick stains somehow always find a way to get on your most favorite clothes and make an ugly stain. The best way to remove these stains from your clothing is to use a regular dishwashing product. These detergents normally contain special degreasing agents which are perfect for removing these stains because lipstick pigments are usually oil-based. This basically means that every cleaning product that is focused on removing oily stains will work on them perfectly. You should simply apply several drops of the detergent on the lipstick stain, leave it for a few minutes and rinse with warm water. Repeat, if needed.

Very useful tips, Stacie! Dishwashing liquid is a good one to remember for oil-based stains. I must admit I usually reach for the stain-remover stick or spray, but it’s great to learn about these gentler alternatives. Fortunately I don’t get that makeup stains on my clothes too often. It’s Jeff who is the stain king though it’s food, not makeup lol

I keep Dawn Dishwashing soap in my laundry room since I’ve found that to be the best. I have a grease stain though on a newish top that won’t come out and it saddens me so much.

Oh boo about the grease stain! I love Dawn for degreasing everything too, especially the light creamy pink scented one (I forgot the name of the scent). That stinks about your shirt! I have one like that too that I refuse to toss even though I really should. Stacie xo
