Did you ever in a million years think you’d see a post titled My First Garden on my blog?! Haha! Yes, it’s true! I have wanted to have a garden my whole life. I’ve always had the thought in my head but never followed through. Well, this past weekend I planted my first garden and I am so excited and happy about it. I’m probably not going to feed my family from this small garden. However, I will be so proud and satisfied when I can go outside and pick the things that I’ve grown.
I did a little bit of research and decided to start with a small raised garden in a sunny spot in my backyard. My husband and i purchased the raised garden at Home Depot. It was very simple to put together but was probably not necessary. I’m sure I could have put together some wood trim myself instead of buying the kit. My daughter helped me with this project and we enjoyed the experience. We even beat the storms that arrived a few hours later which our newly transplanted fruits and veggies appreciated, I’m sure.
I purchased a cherry tomato plant in a container a few weeks ago and it has been flourishing. I’ve visited the plant and all of the tomatoes on it daily, sometimes several times a day as if they’ll ripen before my eyes. This weekend I decided to purchase two mature strawberry plants and five cucumber plant seedlings. We’ll see how it goes. I will definitely update you again as my garden continues to grow.
I guess I now have one more item checked off my bucket list. I’m trying hard to not put off until tomorrow what I can do today. Do you remember that quote?

That’s so great you planted your first garden! I’m sure it will be so rewarding when you can eat some of the yummy goodies you are growing! Can’t wait to see how it grows. Maybe a picture each week?!
