There is no better way to quickly look slimmer, trimmer, toner and leaner without doing even one sit up…get a tan so you have a healthy summer glow! I know what you’re probably thinking, you’re probably over there drinking your protein shake after an awesome Zumba class and totally dumbfounded on how in the world could this be true. But actually it is…(well, kinda!). A beautiful bronzed tan will make your body appear more slender and lean due to the dark tone and shadowed areas that play up on your best features and disguise those that you may not want to show on display.
Fine lines, wrinkles, varicose veins, cellulite, and dimples as well as those pesky bruises (that we just can’t figure out how in the world we got em’) can easily appear less apparent and disguised simply by getting a tan. In this post I’m going to show you ways to create a healthy summer glow without actually going in the sun.
Schedule An Appointment For A Spray Tan
The easiest and simplest way that is usually a foolproof option, unless you have the unlikely but possible ‘Ross’ moment where you get a little too dark for comfort or come out with an uneven tan which both don’t happen very often if done at a reputable location. But many of us don’t have the time, or have the resources since this can be a bit costly. Or maybe you’re simply a person uncomfortable with the idea of either having a technician seeing you topless or in a bikini or are uneasy being in a small, claustrophobic box that will mechanically provide you with this temporary option.
Find Highly Rated At Home Tanning Products
When it comes to self tanners it’s definitely a 50/50 chance it’ll turn out amazing or you’ll deeply regret it, so when you read reviews or hear praises from word of mouth you can’t help but try it! Regardless of the brand or the type of at home tanning product you use, there is a great possibility that it may be a bit messy. So, be prepared and do it in the shower where you can just wash the excess down the drain or stand on an old towel when applying.

That DIY Kinda Glow
There are several different DIY ways to create an at home glow without worrying about the chemicals that you’re applying. The following DIY’s are ones that are easy to do with ingredients that are found in your household. These two are two of the most popular at home DIY tanning mixtures that you might want to try…
Tea Bag Tan
Using 5 black tea bags and 2 cups of water in a medium pot and bring to a boil on the stove. Remove from the heat and allow the tea bags to steep for 15 minutes until it’s room temperature and safely remove the bags. Pour the liquid into a clean spray bottle and carefully spray evenly onto the skin, blending in thoroughly.
Smell Good Cocoa Tanner
Start off with a ½ cup of a fragrance free white lotion and adding ⅓ cup of the delicious smelling pure cocoa powder. You’ll mix the ingredients together using a fork to blend any lumps or powder that is still visible. Keep in mind that the mixture in the bowl will appear much darker than it will be when applied to your skin so this is a learning process to match your desired darkness. Add more cocoa powder if needed to darken it up and you may even choose to apply it daily for a gradual glow. When ready, carefully apply and blend in.
Give Your Face A Healthy Glow
When it comes to your face you really must watch what you apply to it. Certain ingredients may cause skin to breakout, become itchy and red and for some may even burn. It’s highly suggested when you’re looking to brighten up with a healthy glow, to search for products created specifically for your face. There are several brands that create gentle self tanners that state on the packaging that it’s safe to use on the face. Other options you may love in order to create the ideal shade is purchasing a quality tinted moisturizer and a buildable bronzer. These are truly a powerful pair that gives you the results you desire and can easily be washed off at the end of the night.
Whatever you choose, here are some tips to make the process a little easier…
-Place a dark towel on the bathroom floor to prevent staining tile
-Pull your hair up and out of the way to avoid sticking to skin
-Either purchase a tanning glove or use medical gloves to apply and avoid staining hands
-Don’t sleep in light colored clothing or on light sheets to avoid staining fabrics
-Exfoliate and shave first to get the most even tan
-Before applying clothing allow adequate time for the product to dry
-Less is more on ankles, wrists, elbows and knees. These are spots that need a very minimal amount of product to avoid a darker discoloration than the rest of the body.
Having a beautiful, healthy summer glow will have you looking and feeling your best. It may even give you a boost of confidence that you may just need to take on the world. Just because you may not be able to sip on a daiquiri on a tropical getaway doesn’t mean you shouldn’t rock a gorgeous, bronzed glow all year round!
