This past week Rod Stewart released a brand new album. The album is called Time. It has 12 songs and it’s his first album of new material in about 20 years. He wrote and produced 11 of the 12 songs himself. I saw him on television this week promoting the release of this album. He performed a few of his songs and is always so much fun to watch.
I have been a Rod Stewart fan since I was in high school. I remember playing his albums after getting home from my first job as a day camp counselor in the 80’s. Okay… Did I just date myself and show my age? I’ve seen him in concert here in Dallas in the 90’s. What an entertainer he is!
He hasn’t changed a bit – still looks exactly the same! |
You can tell that Rod Stewart wrote the songs on this album straight from his heart. The words are mostly about the experiences in his life. “Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head,” he says. “Next thing I knew, I had a song called ‘It’s Over’ about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn’t done, and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record.”
This new album starts off with an upbeat song called “She Makes Me Happy.” I’ve been listening to the album all week long while driving in my car and have really enjoyed it. You can purchase the album on iTunes and even get 3 more bonus tracks. Time can be purchased on Amazon or iTunes or at your local stores.
Along with the release of Time, Rod Stewart is set to embark on the European leg of his Live the Life tour on June 1st, while American dates with Steve Winwood will kick off October 17th. Now there’s a concert that I’d LOVE to see!
