What Am I Reading? March 2014

March 25, 2014

I’ve been an avid reader my whole life.  My mom inspired me to read at a young age.  I remember laying in my bed at night and positioning myself so that the hall light would shine just right on to the pages of my book so that I could read long past my bedtime.

These days I’m reading quite a variety of books in both fiction and nonfiction.  Most of the books I’ve read for the past few years have been on my Kindle and with the Kindle App on my iPad.  Very occasionally I still buy an actual hardback or paperback.  I must be honest though and say that my attention span for the past 2 years or so has been limited.  I think this is mostly due to my mom’s illness and subsequent death that has interfered with my concentration.  No worries though.  I’m sure my attention span will return to normal when it’s ready.

Here are a few of the books that I have on my reading app at this time:

All That You Could Ask For by Mike Greenberg
I’m almost done with this one.  Great book about women, friendship and the battle against cancer.  It’s quite interesting that such an intimate women’s topic is written about so well by a man who is cohost to ESPN’s Mike & Mike show.
On Grief and Grieving by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler
Finding the Meaning of Grief Through the Five Stages of Loss
This book is about the obvious I’ve had a hard time getting through this book.  The reason is obvious.  I purchased this book right after my mom passed away and I think I’m just sort of avoiding dealing with my feelings on an intellectual level.  I need to just sit down and finish this book.
Every Day a Friday by Joel Osteen
How to be Happier 7 Days a Week
I tend to gravitate toward positive affirmations and inspirations and enjoy Joel Osteen’s books for this reason.  I started this one, but have yet to read through it yet.
Until the End of Time by Danielle Steel
I’ve read Danielle Steel’s books since I was about 12 years old.  They’re usually fun romance novels.  My mom and I would pass them on to each other through the years.  I even emailed the author several years ago to tell her how much my mom and I loved her and she actually sent me a personal email back.  She seems like such a special lady to me.  I haven’t started this one yet.
The Blogger’s Survival Guide by Lexie Lane and Becky McNeer
Tips and Tricks for Parent Bloggers, Wordsmiths and Enthusiasts
The topic is obvious here.  I’m always curious on what I can do to improve everything about my blog.
Ten Years Later by Hoda Kotb with Jane Lorenzini
Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives
I really enjoy watching Hoda on the Today show and thought this book would be interesting.  I actually
finished this book recently.  It’s a book that updates the life changing journeys of six different people.

Where We Belong by Emily Giffin
I’ve had this one on my kindle since it first came out.  I loved reading her previous books so I’m sure this one will be equally as good.
What are you reading?

Let me know if you enjoyed this post.  I’m thinking of adding it as a regular series and possibly posting my reading selections once a month.

I definitely enjoyed this post and would love more like this. Stacie, I have gone through many different times in my life where I stopped reading, knitting, crocheting due to my attention span. It does come back. Hang in there dear. Hugs, Elle

We always have our favorite restaurants that we go We always have our favorite restaurants that we go to when we’re in Cabo. Toro is one of them and I finally started making my husband take a picture out front these last few years. I love that they have live music playing out on the patio almost every time we’re there. The band was exceptional this time. They played cover songs and sounded amazing.🎶

The food is excellent. I love that they have some vegetarian options. I always get their delicious beet salad. This time I also got the vegetarian empanadas and had a big scoop of mashed potatoes which were heavenly with crisped parmesan cheese on top.😋

This outfit checked all the boxes for my flight to Cabo, brunch and a few hours of looking at real estate.

@coldwatercreek has some great options for layering any time of year. And I must admit, I’m kind of obsessed with this linen jacket. I might need to add another color.😉
I’m going on vacation to Cabo, but I could also go I’m going on vacation to Cabo, but I could also go to a garden party, a bridal shower, date night or even wear this beautiful ruffle tiered dress to a summer wedding. Talk about versatile! I played it up with some fun colorful accessories too.

I’m over here with no regrets on breaking all the I’m over here with no regrets on breaking all the old fashioned rules of “no long hair” nor “dark hair” on a mature woman.😎

It was fun doing highlights in my hair for a little while, but I was ready to get back to my roots. I’m thrilled with my summer hair because it looks so much healthier.🤩

I always go with what I like, not what society dictates when it comes to clothes, makeup, hairstyles and more because I think we should all do what makes us feel happy and confident in ourselves.

Are you a rule breaker too?😉
