Steps to Smooth Foundation Application

October 9, 2018

Do you want to achieve a smooth foundation application for flawless looking skin? Your foundation is meant to provide a primary base onto which secondary make-up products can be applied to. The aim or purpose of foundation is to conceal natural facial flaws, problematic skin, and provide an overall smooth and healthy looking coverage to the face. We all feel better about ourselves when our skin looks good.

Foundations are sold in different forms which include liquid, stick, mineral, and powdered foundation. Foundation ultimately enhances one’s natural beauty. Attaining flawless and natural looking results depends on a few factors. While this post will expand on how to do this, women should remember the importance of knowing their skin tone, type, and sensitivity to makeup ingredients.

Hourglass Vanish Foundation

One of my favorite stick foundations from Hourglass Cosmetics.

Exfoliate Regularly

The surface of our skin produces millions of new cells on a continuous basis. However, several layers of the surface skin is also composed of dead skin cells, which automatically shed at the same rate. Exfoliating the face at least once or twice a week will remove deep dirt and dead skin cells from the skin and its crevices (such as pores and lines).

The removal of dirt and old dead skin cells through exfoliation reveals newer and smoother skin, while simultaneously keeping it clean. Applying foundation on to recently exfoliated skin will ensure a smoother application and finish. Exfoliation can also avoid getting a ‘cakey face’, which refers to the common make-up mistake where the face looks dry and bumpy after the application of foundation.

Skin Primer

Foundation primer is a cream or gel applied to the face before any foundation. Most primers are sold as clear, creamy products. However, they can also be purchased in shades such as light yellow or green in order to conceal redness. Primer products are aimed at providing a creamy and smooth base designed to fill fine lines and wrinkles, pores, and cover problematic areas such as blemishes.

Foundation may actually be applied directly to the skin without a primer. However, including primer before foundation will help in attaining extra coverage and smooth results in the overall finish. It is also useful to use a primer for ‘photo-ready foundation’.

The Line Smoother and Primer has a roller ball type applicator

Careful Selection

Although there is no specific rule-sheet regarding how to purchase and apply foundation, keeping in mind these basic make-up guidelines will help avoid common mistakes. Always choose foundation depending on your skin type, tone, undertones, as well as the results you intend to achieve. For example, there are oil, silicone, mineral based-foundations and so on. Each type of foundation will look and feel different. Purchase your foundation based on where you plan to wear it, such as whether it is suited for daytime informal events or nighttime formal ones. Aim for an oil-free foundation to avoid shine, and utilize a powder for a matte finish.

smooth foundation application

Each person’s skin will fall under different and unique categories which depend on ethnicity, gene pool, and even geographic location and weather. Looking for the best foundation in the department store may seem overwhelming with the wide variety of cosmetic brands available. So when aiming for good coverage and maximum results, it is important to know your skin type and follow the basic guidelines of make-up application.

I wish you smooth foundation application days ahead!

Layering season has finally hit for most of us, so Layering season has finally hit for most of us, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite toppers from the @cabiclothing Fall collection.

I will start by saying that the Keynote Trousers have become my go-to pants lately. They’re made of the most comfortable wrinkle free material. I had mine hemmed to fit my 5’2” height. I wear them with loafers, heels or sneakers.

The simple, but classic white Poetry Top is the perfect layering piece that every wardrobe needs.

But the real heroes are the fantastic toppers. I’m wearing the gorgeous Williams Jacket which is a mulberry color velvet blazer, the Coronation Cardigan in bright red (we all know that red is trending this season) and the Team Jacket which is a velour corduroy black bomber style jacket.

Which do you like best?💖

HaPpY WeEKeNd! My last post talked about meeting HaPpY WeEKeNd!

My last post talked about meeting friends from social media in real life. Well, today I’m going to meet a friend who I’ve known from YouTube and social media since about 2010. We’re talking way before Instagram was even born!

She’s visiting the US all the way from Paris and we’re meeting for coffee for the first time.

And how cute is this little midi skirt outfit?! I bought it at Walmart while shopping for toys with my granddaughter yesterday. Happy to send a link if you want one.

I’m walking with a little extra pep in my step b I’m walking with a little extra pep in my step because next week I’m going to Las Vegas for a conference of midlife influencers.

How cool is that? I get to meet, hang out with and learn from some incredible and inspiring women whom I greatly admire.

This conference was initially planned for 2020, but was postponed because the world was shut down. But it’s back now and I’m ready for it!!

I can’t wait to meet some of my long time IG friends and make some new ones.

Midlife women are amazing, relevant and beautiful! We have a lot to offer and teach the younger generations, including a lot of wisdom from the lessons we’ve learned from ALL of our experiences (both good and bad).

Two of my favorites are “Don’t sweat the small stuff” and “Don’t saw sawdust” that I’ve always remembered from reading Dale Carnegie books wayyy back when.

Do you have any quotes or lessons that have stuck with you?

Nothing beats an easy to wear outfit. You know, th Nothing beats an easy to wear outfit. You know, the ones you know you can count on that make you feel great.

That’s how I feel about a white button down shirt paired with a satin high waisted skirt. Cute with heels or tennis shoes.

The skirt is so good that I ordered it in another color and it’s under $40.✨

Let me know if you want more info.

Have a great Thursday! It will be a rainy day in Texas so I’ll be staying home and tidying up because I’m not ready to get my new car wet and dirty.😂😂
