The upcoming makeup trends for spring 2017 are all about switching from heavy makeup to a combination of natural and bold instead. It features bold lips and glitters worn in unexpected places but kept to the minimum. This is the season for brave women and lazy girls. The spring season will have makeup styles that are quick, effortless, and naturally beautiful. Red lips, black eyes, intense blush, highlights and glitters will be reinvented.
NATURAL (No Makeup Makeup)
Unknown to most, sometimes achieving the perfect no makeup makeup look takes just as long as applying heavy makeup. This is not only an upcoming spring 2017 makeup trend, it is a forever beauty trend. The trick to this is wearing a full face of undetectable makeup. For application go for a creamy matte foundation, soft highlights, perfectly blended contour, subtle blush, soft eyeshadow and mauve or nude lips. Remember the beauty is all in the blending.
CLEAN COMPLEXION
Clear glowing skin is the new makeup, and nothing is more beautiful than a seemingly bare face. Dare to go bare with no foundation or keep it light and dewy with a tinted moisturizer. Finish with a lip balm and keep brows well groomed.
BROWS
Fuller and natural looking brows seems to be the trend for upcoming spring . Avoid overplucked brows and go for bold brows filling in with eyebrow pencil using soft strokes. Bold full brows are easy to achieve, you can skip the brow pencil and go for a brow gel or clear mascara.
BLUSH
Get ready for “draping” as it’s the new contouring for spring. Draping is applying blush from the cheeks to temple. Shades to go for are rosy shades, corals or subtle pinks.
LIPSTICK
The trend wouldn’t be complete with bold lipstick. Go for a matte or semi matte shade of red lipstick. For spring 2017 peach, orange, fuchsia, cherry and purple shades will be included too.
HIGHLIGHTS
We can’t get enough of the highlighted face and skin. The first glow comes from healthy skin and the glowier the skin, the better. The application for this trend starts with highlighting the inner corner of the eyes, brushing a powder highlighter all across both cheekbones and the nose as well as the cupid’s bow. A shimmer creamy gold pencil can work just right for the inner corner of the eyes too.
EYELINER
Smudgy eyeliner is a must as an upcoming spring trend. It should look just beautiful and imperfect. Perfect shades of eyeliner for spring are black, gray and navy. For application the eyeliner can be traced on the top and bottom lash line or just to the waterline and then smudged with a Q-tip. Finish with two coats of mascara on lashes. You can even go bare on eyelid before eyeliner application or apply an eyeshadow that’s close to your skin tone.

What a nice post, Stacie. I tend not to follow– unless they happen to intersect with my interests. Instead, I just do what works for me. That said, it’s always nice to see what’s trending!
Stacie says
Thanks! I agree with you. I tend to do what I like also and see what’s trending anyway knowing that most trends don’t usually fit with my style. Stacie xo

I still don’t understand what draping is but as you get older I think you have to temper how much blush you wear or you’ll look overdone. I have the Nars palette and I’m glad I bought it since it gives me everything I need.

I don’t get it either Marcia. I prefer blush on the apples of the cheeks. It must be a young person thing. LOL! I’m jealous that you have the Nars palette. It looks so pretty. Stacie xo

I’m terrible about following trends or even knowing what is popular at any given moment. I am kind of that “dance to the beat of your own drum” kind of person. I will say though, I’m looking forward to seeing what is coming out for Spring. I’m all for a natural look – my daily makeup being a lip balm or liquid lipstick with mascara and brows done, so I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with.
Lisa Heath says
I used to mix it up a lot, but for the past 2 years I’ve been more on team natural. I still wear a fair share of makeup, but am embracing the natural kick
