Do you fall into the petite size range category for your clothes? If you’re 5’4″ or under, then you’re technically classified as being petite (just like me). I’m 5’2″ and often head straight to the petites department at any store I go to. Unfortunately, these departments are more often than not, either nonexistent, picked over, or very small to start with. This is always such a disappointment to me. I most often resort to shopping online or buying regular sizes and having alterations made at the tailor, which is an added expense that adds up really fast. I recently worked with a company that makes finding petite clothing that FITS into a FUN experience with their personal styling service. You can check it out here.
Enter Short Story Box, a company founded by a 5’1″ woman who understands the struggles of finding clothing that flattered her petite frame. This woman-led company is actually the first styling service dedicated to us petite ladies. Their mission is to “remove the “ugh” from the shopping equation for millions of petite women so they can dress with effortless confidence. They carry sizes 00P – 18P and feature a variety of brands along with exclusive styles created and designed by their own designers.
How does Short Story Box work?
It is so easy to get started with Short Story Box…
- You simply go to their website and complete a style quiz with your preferences, fit, and budget.
- A style expert curates a box just for you based on the answers to your quiz. At the time that your stylist selects your items, you’ll be charged a $25 styling fee. That $25 will be applied as a credit toward anything you keep from your box.
- Your box is be shipped to you so you can try everything on in the comfort of your own home.
- You decide which pieces to keep and which to send back using the enclosed pre-addressed shipping bag. You must send the unwanted items back within 5 days to avoid being charged. The process couldn’t be any easier.
Let’s take a look at what was in my first box:
I don’t know about you, but I’m a fan of lightweight dresses during the spring and summer. I consider them to be “one and done” dressing. My box had the Juliet floral dress from Unishe, which is a maxi in the perfect petite length. I’m sure I can wear this dress for many different casual events, including Sunday brunch. Retails for $68.
Next up are the JAG Petite Ruby straight crop jeans. They’re a mid rise with some interior technology to keep them in place with a nice smoothing feature. The bottom is a raw hem, which I like and the inseam is a perfect 24″ to hit right at my ankles. I can wear these with everything (as you’ll see below). Retails for $74.
I first paired my new jean with the Vivienne smocked back, shoulder tie top. This top is from The Racounteur, a brand I’d never heard of before. I like the top and the pretty, feminine details. It’s a little shorter than I’m used to. I think it would look better on someone more fit than me. Maybe this will give me motivation to stick to a good ab slimming routine. Retails for $48.
Next I paired my JAG Ruby cropped jeans with the Daisy flutter sleeve top from Lovestitch. Again, I LOVE the feminine details of this top. It can be worn with denim, white pants or shorts and so much more. It has a relaxed fit and the prettiest ruffle flutter cap sleeves. The tassel ties add a fun touch. Retails for $59.
I’ve been a big fan of bright colored tops lately. This long sleeve blouse from Vince Camuto has a bit of a boho vibe with the blouson sleeves. My stylist did great picking this top for me. Retails for $64.
What did I think of my first Short Story Box personalized styling experience?
I was excited to open my box to see what my stylist had chosen for me based on the quiz that I took. I like that my stylist took my measurements into consideration when choosing my items and my sizes. My box had a variety of items, including jeans, tops and a dress. I could pair them together or wear separately with other items in my wardrobe. I was extremely impressed that everything fit me so well and made me feel comfortable and confident. The only item that was questionable/I was iffy about was the black cropped length top. It would probably work better for me if I could just stick to an ab routine. LOL! I’m actually going to try it with a pair of high waisted jeans before deciding if it’s a keeper or not for me.
I’m very happy with my first styling experience and everything about it. It was such an easy process. I can say without a doubt, that if you wear petite sized clothing, you should give it a try. I highly recommend!! I have a link for you to use to get your $25 styling fee waived, so take advantage now! shortstorybox.com/referral/StacieHamilton
