Women who have sensitive skin can have difficulties with choosing the right makeup. Cosmetics containing preservatives and fragrances can lead to skin irritation and breakouts. By knowing how to choose makeup for your sensitive skin, you’ll be keeping your skin happy and smooth.
Makeup Brands for Sensitive Skin
The easiest way to find cosmetics that will work for your skin type is to look for those specifically made for sensitive skin. You can start by looking for the word “hypoallergenic” on the packaging. Almay is one of the most well-known drugstore cosmetics companies and it offers a wide range of hypoallergenic products. In fact, every product Almay sells is hypoallergenic. Neutrogena is another brand that I think of when I think of makeup products for sensitive skin. Both of these are established brands with good reputations. Clinique is an extremely popular company that focuses on products for healthy skin. It’s one of the first brands that I think of when my skin is acting up.
Mineral based makeup is often used by people with sensitive skin. Some brands included in this category are Jane Iredale, Glo Skin Beauty and BareMinerals. Each of these brands has a multitude of makeup products that will have you keeping up with the latest trends.

Cosmetics listed simply as fragrance-free can be useful to some women who have sensitive skin. However, preservatives are often used in these products. If you want to try a variety of fragrance-free cosmetics, the fewer ingredients listed on the label the lower your risk of developing a skin irritation.
When you think about sensitive skin makeup, you probably think of the foundations I shared above. Although hypoallergenic foundation will go a long way in helping you to avoid allergic reactions and skin irritation, other cosmetics are also important. Women who have sensitive skin on their face should not dismiss the importance of hypoallergenic eye makeup, too. You can check the labels on your eye shadow, eye liner and mascara to be sure they are in this category. Fewer women have trouble with sensitive skin on their lips. If you do, you can also choose hypoallergenic lip products.
You don’t need to spend more money for makeup just because you have sensitive skin. Most of these products are no more expensive than products without this feature. However, it is a good idea to avoid extra cheap cosmetics. Your local discount store is not the place to find the makeup if you have sensitive skin. It’s much better to put a little research and time into shopping for a good cosmetics line. The time you spend will be well worth the results. You can have the fresh, beautiful look you are hoping for, without worrying about ingredients bothering your skin.

Thanks for these tips! I hate that they put SPF in almost all foundations these days. They all make my skin red and irritated, exactly the opposite of what I’m trying to accomplish, LOL.

I don’t mind some spf ingredients (the natural ones), but you do have to be careful if you’re sensitive to certain ingredients. Stacie xo

Hi Stacie! Thanks for your recommendation. I’m the one who have a sensitive skin and finding some makeups that suit to my skin. Now, I use foundation for sensitive skin from womenangle.com/best-foundation-for-sensitive-skin/. They work very well on my skin. However, I’m also really interested in products for sensitive skin that you suggested. I haven’t tried some of them. I agree with you that sensitive skin should use fragrance-free makeups. I’ll see more detail about the product you have suggested. I love your this post.

These are all terrific brands. I’m a big Jane Iredale fan, myself. Their cream blush is the best ever. My Mom had sensitive skin and Boots was a brand that worked well for her.
