Midlife beauty, health tips, skincare reviews and advice for women over 40

Friday Chit Chat

May 16, 2014

I love to talk.  Sometimes I just can’t help myself and will talk your ear off.  I think part of my problem is that I walk so much that it gives me LOTS of time to just think.  I problem solve while walking.  I plan while walking.  I reminisce while walking.  You name it.  It just clears my mind.  So here’s some of the random stuff I’ve been thinking about:

1.  Yesterday was my mom’s birthday.  I think about her every day since she’s been gone and always wonder if special days will be harder than others.  Quite frankly, I think I acknowledged the day yesterday but really didn’t let it overwhelm me.  Tomorrow my daughters and I will participate in another 5K for melanoma research.  These help us to honor her memory and raise money for research and awareness.

My gorgeous mama.  Look at that skin!  She was 68 years old in this picture.
2.  I met with a blog consultant this week and she’s helping me to figure out what I can do to make my blog even better.  I thoroughly enjoy everything about blogging and want to make my blog the best that it can be.  This will include a more regular posting schedule.  I think I’m going to try to start with Monday, Wednesday, Friday posts along with my Silent Sunday post.  We’ll see how it goes.  If you ever have a request for a review or topic that you’d like to see please don’t hesitate to ask.

This is the blog planner that I bought on Amazon.  It looks GREAT!  The only problem is that it doesn’t start until July.  Haha!  I guess I’ll just use my regular calendar for now.

3.  Do you ever get something done and wonder if maybe you shouldn’t have done it?  I’m referring to a haircut or a facial and things like that.  I had some of the sebaceous hyperplasia’s “burned” off my face at the dermatologist this past Monday.  They’re currently not looking too good.  I kinda wish I hadn’t had this done.  Maybe I just should have lived with the small bumps on my face.  Maybe they weren’t that bad after all.  I’ll update on this one in a few days.

4.  I think I’m going to donate my hair!  Yes, I think I’m putting this one on my bucket list.  I’ve been growing my hair out for several months and and it just sort of dawned on me a few weeks ago that I should maybe continue to grow it a few more inches and then donate it to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients and others.  I’ll keep you updated on this one as well.  I just need to find out all of the requirements.

Well, that’s it for my chit chat today.  I hope everyone is doing well.  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Your mom was gorgeous! Don’t stress about your procedure. Skin is incredibly healing. I do deep peels on myself and have some scary looking down time with them but they are always worth it. If you have emu oil you can use that to help heal up your skin too. You hair is to die for and would make a fabulous wig for someone who needs it!

Stacie – you are healing and yet still remembering. This is good. I can’t tell you how much it touched me that you are thinking of donating your hair. xoxo Elle

Oh, your Mom’s birthday is so close to Mother’s Day. Those days are hard enough, but so close together. I miss my Mama every day. I hope all is well with your spots on your face. Keep us posted! Enjoy the rest of your weekend also!

If you’re wondering where I’ve been the last few d If you’re wondering where I’ve been the last few days, I’m in Michigan for our annual family reunion. And I must say, the weather here has been in the 70’s during the day which makes me not miss the heat wave back at home in Texas one bit.

Running quick errands on a hot day calls for a loose fitting dress and comfortable sneakers.

Summer isn’t quite ready to leave, but I’m already Summer isn’t quite ready to leave, but I’m already reaching for rich fall colors. 🍂

#ad One of my favorite ways to transition into fall is by layering lightweight pieces from @soft_surroundings that keep me comfortable on warm afternoons but are also perfect for when the temperatures start to cool down. It’s an easy way to ease into the next season.

These warm, earthy colors feel so timeless, and each piece can be mixed and matched with other wardrobe favorites.

I started with an eyeshadow palette that has a variety of textures and shades in the rose family to create a million different looks. And yes, you can wear shimmers and whatever else makes you feel confident even if you’re a more mature woman.😎

You can’t go wrong any of the makeup brushes from BK Beauty to apply and blend your makeup. This eyeshadow brush is one of many that I love.

The foundation stick is new for me and I’m wondering where it’s been my whole life! It’s that good. Just swipe, blend and go. Available in so many shades that there’s one for everyone!🙌🏻

Adding depth and glow to the face couldn’t be easier with a multitasking palette of bronzer, highlighter and blush. It’s perfect for travel too.✨

The lip glow is fun because it’s a pH reactive one so it’s almost like having a custom shade that’s just for you.

Comment CODE for the link and my discount code that gets you 50% off your first two months.

It’s a great way to try beautiful bags without committing to a single bag. I’m having so much fun with this membership!👜

Thank you @vivrelle for the gift of this membership!
