Friday Beauty Favorites

January 20, 2017

I have purchased and reviewed so many new products in the past several months that I forget to take the time to do a beauty favorites post for you here on my blog.  This week I’ve decided that it’s time that you know what’s at the top of my list right now.  This list includes a few newer products and some of my really old tried and true favorites.

You must  have heard of Baby Foot by now…  This foot peel is great!  The best time to use it is in the winter when you’re not wearing open shoes and have time for peeling.  All of the nasty dead skin will peel off of your feet to reveal the pretty soft skin hiding underneath.  I’m also a super long time fan of the Callus Reducer tool and Sole Food cream for the softest feet ever.  The combination of these two products is something I haven’t been without for about 20 years and counting.  That’s the truth.  My mom told me about these way back when and I actually listened to her on this!

I joined the Le Metier De Beaute VIP subscription box program this year.  Their monthly boxes started arriving back in August.  Each month I’m impressed with what I receive.  A few months ago I received the After Glow Foundation (I’m a shade 5).  This foundation gives a pretty full coverage and is lightweight on the skin.  It’s infused with hyaluronic acid, so it helps to hydrate my middle-aged skin.  It’s a pricey one, but worth it in my opinion.

Kat Von D Makeup Brushes – I have several makeup brushes from the line and I’m telling you, they are so nice.  You can feel the quality of them in your hands.   I love the edge concealer brush and setting powder brush the best.  I actually received these two in an Influenster Box.  The concealer brush applies my concealer under my eyes and over my age spots perfectly.  I then set with the fluffy powder brush and finishing powder.  Perfection!

The Liptensity formula of lipsticks from MAC is one of my favorites lately.  The Driftwood color is one that I find myself grabbing for almost daily.  It’s a gorgeous soft lilac beige.  I think everyone will love the shade too.

There’s a reason the Copper Face Palette from the MAC Nutcracker holiday collection sold out so fast.  The blush color is a peachy brown, like a terracotta.  It is stunning!  I thought it would be too dark for me, but boy was I wrong.  Combined with a dusting of the light gold highlighter, it’s simply gorgeous!  It gives a deeper glow to my face.  As options, you could try Show Gold Extra Dimension Skinfinish and the Coppertone Powder Blush.

Lastly, I thought I’d mention my favorite tv show right now and for the past year (at least).  I love the show and the blog for Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines from Waco, Texas.  My goal is to meet them some day (they’re just an hour and half away from me).  They have the best style in home decor.  I adore every single thing that they’ve done for the homes on their show.  As you know, I’m currently building a custom home and they influenced some of my choices.  I feel like I could invite them over and they’d feel right at home with my design choices.  If only I could get Joanna to come give me decorating advice when I move in…  Actually, I’m too far out of her traveling for work distance, but I can keep wishing.

I love favorites posts. I always learn a lot. Like I never heard of the Liptensity line from MAC and they sound perfect for me. Will you do a post on the Le Metier de Beaute box sometime? Anastasia used to do them, and I always loved seeing what was in the box.

Yes, I think you should at least get a sampling of the foundation and then go play with the brushes at Sephora or somewhere close to you now. Stacie xo

That foot peel is the best! Right now my favorites are all skincare things, First Beauty moisturizer and this new castor oil from Haiti that I use for my brows and lashes.

What a fun post. I love reading your favorites. My MAC Liptensity lipstick is one of my favorites too – the first MAC lipstick I’ve bought in 2 years.

At 61 years old, I’ve never been able to consisten At 61 years old, I’ve never been able to consistently use a retinol product until now because I couldn’t handle the dry, irritated skin that I experienced when using them. #OlayPartner

@olay has this new Retinol 24 Starter that’s intentionally made for beginners and/or people with sensitive skin like me. I’m now able to get the “gold standard” benefits recommended by dermatologists with this gentler formula to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, fade dark spots and improve texture.

It’s formulated with Pro-Retinol, Triple Collagen Peptide and Aloe Vera to reveal the smoother, brighter skin that’s been unreachable until now.

And if you’re a long-time user of retinol products, they have several stronger formulas that you can check out too.

New users and those of us with sensitive skin can conveniently purchase this gentler formula at our favorite retailers or online. Give it a try. I think you’ll be as impressed as I am.

GRWM with clean beauty products — because looking GRWM with clean beauty products — because looking your best at any age isn’t about looking younger. It’s about looking like the best version of you.

At 61, I’m all about makeup that enhances my features, works well with mature skin, and still lets me look like me. I don’t want to hide behind my makeup, and I don’t think any of us need to. With the right products and techniques, makeup can simply bring out what’s already there.

I used all clean beauty makeup products to create a fresh, natural, polished look that feels good without feeling overdone.

If you’re a woman over 50—or 40, 60, or 70—and you’re looking for clean beauty, natural makeup for mature skin, makeup tips for mature skin, anti-aging makeup techniques, or natural-looking makeup that enhances instead of covers, this one is for you. ✨

Beauty doesn’t have an expiration date. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and confident.💕

Save this GRWM for your next makeup day and tell me: do you prefer a natural makeup look or something a little more glam?

As a matter of fact, I already repurchased the vitamins and prebiotics and probiotics supplement. I didn’t know Kourtney Kardashian was the owner of that brand. I only had 1 fail this time which was the terrible tasting creatine gummies. I don’t like stevia, but if you do then you may like with them.
