My Quarantine Beauty Haul

April 17, 2020

I don’t know about you, but I seem to be an online shopping fool while quarantining at home. I think I’ve purchased products more online than I do during the holidays. I’m calling it retail therapy. For today’s post I thought I’d share what I’m calling my “quarantine beauty haul.”  These are products that I’ve purchased over the past month or so. Let me know if you want to know more about any of the products that I’ve purchased.

Some of the items from my quarantine beauty haul

I purchased another one of my favorite foundations, the UV Expert Mineral CC Cream SPF 50 from Lancome. This is one of tried and true holy grail foundation types of products. It gives a nice dewy finish and has a high spf factor with physical sunscreen protection.

Clinique iD Dramatically Different Base and Clinique iD Active Cartridge Concentrate – This is a new and rather unique product that I thought I’d try. You choose a base product and a concentrate. The two products are combined into one to give you a personalized treatment. I like bb creams for their light coverage and the way they even out my skin. I’m also happy to try the concentrate that I chose which is supposed to help correct uneven skin texture.

I’m loving the Nude Plumping Lip Glace from Nudestix. It has a minty sensation on the lips. This shade 04 is a beautiful natural lip color that makes the lips look better. I love the packaging too!

Every year I purchase their Sun Safety Kit. This year’s kit is made up of 14 products to keep one safe in the sun. There is one full size product and the rest are nice sample sizes. There are some fantastic spf products in this kit inside a pretty lavender colored bag. One of my favorite things about this annual kit is that $25 is donated to skin cancer research for each kit sold.

I decided to try the Sobel Skin Rx 30% Glycolic Acid Peel without really knowing about the brand. I did some research and thought this would be a great product to help with my anti-aging skincare routine. So far, so good.

I purchased a box of the Revlon Total Hair Color so I’ll have it when I’m ready to cover my roots. You may recall that I worked with Revlon on a campaign about this vegan, clean beauty hair color kit. With the exception of a few gray hairs popping up around my face, the rest of my hair is still vibrant and shiny.

I bought the Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-In Nourishing Treatment to keep frizz at bay on the humid rainy days. It’s a fantastic product recommended by my hair salon.

After searching for weeks, I finally found some hand sanitizer that was in stock. I ordered the Hempz  Triple Moisture Hand Sanitizer. This stuff smells delightful and the fact that it moisturizes and kills germs is a huge bonus. The scent is grapefruit and peach and so refreshing. As of right now it’s in stock. However, if it’s out of stock, keep circling back to see if it’s restocked.

My poor fingernails have been suffering since I can no longer get tho the salon. I’m so uncoordinated when it comes to doing my own nails so I thought I’d give dipping powder a try. I bought the Dipping Powder Nails Starter Set from AVVA and I started using it just yesterday. It’s actually quite easy to do and my nails actually look pretty good. It did take longer than I expected for this particular set to come in the mail. There are so many out there to choose from. During my research I thought the starter sets from KISS and Latorice also looked good and had good reviews.

I love my mauvy pink lipsticks are picked out one of the newer formulas from Smashbox. It’s the Always On Cream to Matte in the color Promoted. It’s beautiful! I hope to have somewhere to wear it some day soon.

Lastly, I picked up the Brilliant Eye Brightener from Thrive Causmetics in the shade Emma. It’s a beautiful copper shimmer that works nicely all over my lids. This product is described as “powered by ring light technology to diffuse light and define features, Brilliant Eye Brightener highlights, brightens and opens the eyes, providing an instant eye lift.” Who could resist that?!

Cleaning our makeup brushes is a must. The Ulta Solid Brush Cleanser makes the job a little easier and more efficient for me.

Have you been shopping online while quarantining at home too? If so, let me know what products you picked up.

Haha, I second you! I have shopped more during quarantine as well but I don’t mind it because I got some self-care time due to lockdown!

AD / COMPLIMENTARY TREATMENT: I received this DENS AD / COMPLIMENTARY TREATMENT: I received this DENSITY RF treatment at no cost in exchange for sharing my honest experience and review.

At 61, I’m always exploring ways to care for my skin and maintain a healthy, youthful-looking glow without surgery. This treatment caught my attention so I’m taking you with me to my treatment appointment at @orangetwist.alliance in Ft Worth, Texas.

So, what exactly is DENSITY RF?

DENSITY is a newer FDA-cleared, non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) skin rejuvenation treatment from Korea that uses controlled heat energy to reach both superficial and deeper layers of the skin. It combines monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency energy to help stimulate your body’s natural collagen and elastin production, which play an important role in skin firmness and elasticity.

What can it help with?
• Improving the appearance of loose or sagging skin
• Supporting firmer-looking skin and a more defined jawline
• Smoothing the appearance of fine lines and skin texture
• Encouraging natural collagen remodeling over time

There are no needles and no downtime. The treatment was comfortable most of the time with a few spicy areas, especially on my sensitive neck. My skin was a little red after the treatment, but that resolved within 30 minutes on my face and an hour on my neck.

While some tightening may be noticeable earlier, results can continue to develop over the following weeks and months as the skin produces and remodels collagen. Results vary from
person to person, and this isn’t an overnight fix, but I’m so excited to see improvements in my skin going forward.

I’m sharing my experience because I know so many of us over 50 are interested in non-surgical facial rejuvenation, collagen-stimulating treatments, and ways to support healthier-looking, mature skin.

I’ll be keeping you updated on my experience and how my skin looks over time!💗

Would you try the DENSITY RF treatment?

Save this post if you’re researching collagen treatments for mature skin that don’t have any downtime.⬅️

#ad As a woman over 50, I’m paying more attention #ad As a woman over 50, I’m paying more attention to my wellness routine and the little things I can do to support my body as it continues to change.

I’ve added two supplements from @ritual to my daily routine:

Ritual Perimenopause Hormone Support — designed to support women navigating the changes that can come with perimenopause. They’re formulated for women over 40 who are seeking hormone balance.

Ritual Essential for Women Multivitamin — to help fill nutritional gaps in my diet, because even when we try to eat well, we may not get every nutrient we need.

I also appreciate Ritual’s focus on ingredient traceability and transparency. And the good news? You can find Ritual at @target, too!

Taking care of ourselves doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s the small, consistent habits that make us feel like we’re showing up for ourselves.

#ad My morning skincare routine has gotten a LOT s #ad My morning skincare routine has gotten a LOT simpler over the years. I’m not looking for 10 different steps. Instead, I want products that are easy to use and easily fit into my everyday routines and @CeraVe has me covered.

Here’s what I’m reaching for lately:

• CeraVe Brightening Vitamin C Cleanser
• CeraVe Super Boost Serum with 3 Essential Ceramides — definitely my favorite step!
• CeraVe Brightening Even Tone Lotion for face + sensitive areas
• CeraVe Skin Renewing Brightening Lotion SPF 30 in the am for sun protection

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that a skincare routine I’ll actually stick with is so much better than a complicated routine that ends up sitting on my bathroom counter collecting dust.

If you’re looking for a simple morning skincare routine for mature skin, skincare for women over 50, brightening skincare, or an easy daily skincare routine, this is a great place to start, and you can pick them all up at @target or on target.com.

Do you keep your morning skincare simple, or are you a 10-step kind of girl?🤔

#ad A little nighttime self-care is one of my favo #ad A little nighttime self-care is one of my favorite ways to unwind at the end of a busy day!

Looking after ourselves doesn’t have to be complicated… sometimes it’s just a few little beauty rituals that make us feel our best.

Tonight’s nighttime beauty routine featured a few finds from QVC…

• Tweezerman Facial Razor & Replacement Blades for a little at-home facial grooming. I like these for removing the peach fuzz so my makeup goes on smoother. Beware, these are sharp!

• Beekman 1802 Milk Rx Better Aging Compress Mask (came as part of a trio) to calm and soothe my skin after I did some exfoliating with the razor.

• Philosophy Fragrance 3-in-1 Shower Gel & Lotion for a relaxing bubble bath and a little everyday luxury. The Pure Grace scent is clean and refreshing.

I love finding beauty and skincare favorites that make my self-care routine feel special, especially when I can find them at a great price and I always feel like I can count on QVC for that.

Have you checked out the beauty deals and sales on QVC.com or in the QVC app lately? There are so many fun finds worth browsing! You never know what little beauty treat you might discover and with the holidays coming up, they have great gift options too.
