Some of My Travel Essentials

July 6, 2019

Are you getting ready to do some traveling? I recently went on a family vacation to the East coast, and now we’re on a 4th of July road trip. I always try to pack light for travel. Sometimes it works out that way, but most of the time I end up overpacking. It’s better to be prepared for anything and everything, right?

Today I’m sharing some of my current favorite travel essentials that come in handy for me. I’m sharing a few things from keeping myself organized to some of my favorite beauty products to stay looking fresh (especially in the heat). Be sure to check out my previous post on some of my carry on essentials.

Organization

I recently purchased some Packing Cubes to try to conserve space in my suitcase. I’ve only heard good things about these space savers. I need to save space since I always take extra clothing items. The packing cubes help me to be more organized and mindful of what goes into my suitcase. These also help me to plan my daily outfits.

I packed my jewelry with the No Knot Necklace Carrier. From the name you can imagine why this is such a wonderful invention for me. I always end up tossing necklaces into my bag and they end up a big knotted mess. Not any more!! This organizer has pockets to put rings, earrings and more. The center has the perfect spot to hook multiple thin chained necklaces so they remain tangle-free during travel. Buy one for yourself and remember this when you need a gift too. It’s available at Amazon, Walmart, Overstock and Wayfair.

The No Knot Necklace Carrier is a lifesaver for my necklaces.

My all time favorite backpack has been a staple in my travel for the past year. This is the Lug Via backpack. It goes everywhere that I go. It holds all of the stuff that I travel with and need handy at any given time. There are pockets everywhere (inside and outside). The interior is so roomy that it holds my laptop, ipad, magazines, books, snacks, meds, chargers, sunglasses and more. I get compliments every time I use it. I’ve bought several as gifts too. Everyone can use one of these work horses. I have the camo one and bought the black one for a few people.

My favorite backpack ever!

I don’t go anywhere without my handy little clothing steamer. This steamer is lightweight and very portable. I like to take it with me on all trips because I find that steaming my clothes is much easier than dealing with an iron.

Beauty and Skincare

I like to bring mult-tasking makeup items when I travel. That usually means that I will have a good palette with shades that I know I can wear and change up each day for different looks. The Cargo Tokyo in Bloom fits the bill for me. For summer vacations I like to also bring the Cargo Swimmables mascara top coat which turns any regular mascara into a waterproof mascara. Pretty clever for when you want to hang out in or near the pool but like to keep your mascara on.

Cargo cosmetics Tokyo in Bloom eyeshadow palette

This is a beautiful neutral eyeshadow palette and it’s currently on sale for only $10.

I recently purchased the Nuface Fix microcurrent device to try and abolish (or at least soften) my fine lines. I’m committing myself to a daily session or two to see if it works. This little device is coming on all of my future travels. It’s small and easy to travel with. I’m currently using it to soften the vertical lines above my lips and the crows feet lines around my eyes.

It’s summer, so I make sure to have a good physical sunscreen with me when I travel. I picked up Sun Bum mineral spray which has 14% zinc oxide.

Insect repellent is a necessity for me. I’m one of those people who attracts mosquitos. When I’m bitten (which is often) I have an allergic reaction and the bites swell up to giant welts. I try to prevent the bites from ever happening with this spray. Just in case I do get bitten I also pack some hydrocortisone cream and an antihistimine.

Reading

Another thing that I’ve been doing lately (especially for travel) is listening to books on Audible. This is so convenient because I get carsick if I try to read. I simply download a book or two per month and listen at my leisure. When the book is good, you can put me in the car for a long time and I’m good to go. It makes the time pass by much faster. The first book that I listened to on Audible was Oprah’s book The Path Made Clear. Hearing the words read by Oprah and her guests got me hooked on the whole concept. I’ve actually listened to this book 3 times (so far). Click below to learn more.

I have never tried packaging cubes, but I often look at them when I’m at TJ Maxx. Curious to find out whether they help you get more stuff into your bag, or if they’re for organization only?

I’m sharing my Glow-Up Routine for Women Over 50 I’m sharing my Glow-Up Routine for Women Over 50 for a beautiful natural makeup look that enhances the beauty of mature skin and protects it from the sun. It’s makeup and skincare in one! I love a multitasker, don’t you?

What I used:
Universal Tinted Moisturizer: This is a lightweight tinted moisturizer with SPF 46 that gives sheer coverage and a natural glow. It nourishes and hydrates with hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and a high concentration of niacinamide (vitamin B3). It blends out perfectly for all skin tones.

Luminous Eye Corrector: This product comes in 4 peachy shades to cancel out under eye circles and darkness. It stays all day, doesn’t crease and gives perfect coverage without looking cakey. It has mineral SPF 41 to protect that delicate skin under the eyes.

Lip Silk: Deeply hydrating lip color that’s formulated with Squalane, Meadowfoam, & Peptides to nourish and soften lips without bleeding into lip lines. Available in 2 shades Soft and Bold. It has mineral based SPF 40 to protect lips from the sun and also from blue light.

These are fantastic skincare products that make you feel good in your own skin & they’re linked in my profile!💫

I recently went to the Southlake, TX location of S I recently went to the Southlake, TX location of Skin Pharm for a little Dysport refresh with the incredible Rebekah.💖

I really appreciate her knowledge and skill, but what impresses me the most is the way she listens to my concerns about my aging skin and she does everything she can to help make me feel more confident.

She educated me on the latest products and treatments available and we decided together that Skinvive is something that I might want to try in the future. Have you heard of it? It purely for hydration and not for volume.

You can see my highlights with my previous treatments at Skin Pharm too.

Skin Pharm is a clinician-founded, female-led cosmetic dermatology practice with locations in several states including TX, GA, NC, SC and TN.

Oh, and their skincare products are amazing! You can purchase them right from their website too! I highly recommend their cleansers, the eye sculpt cream, the Youth Serum and the new Face Whip.💫

✨Right now they’re running a special where you get FREE cleanser AND Crystal Clear with any treatment through 5/30/25.✨

Book your appointment at @skinpharm asap so they can take care of you too!
