Everybody ages, and everybody gets wrinkles. It is, after all, an inevitable part of the aging process. While no one can really stop the appearance of wrinkles on your face, there are ways that you can slow them down or even reduce them.
Sure, you may go for synthetic anti-aging wrinkle creams, regular visits to a medical spa, or even cosmetic surgery, all of which are great options. However, if you want to go all natural in your fight against wrinkles, the following tips might just be more up your alley.
Sleep and rest well
A good night’s sleep on a regular basis is crucial to keeping your skin supple. If you don’t get enough sleep, your body will produce more cortisol, which could lead to wrinkles.
It’s also wise to avoid sleeping with your face pressed to the pillow because sleep lines may form and eventually turn into wrinkles. Sleep on your back (easier said than done). You can get special pillows that help with this.
No smoking
Cigarettes contain nicotine, which narrows the blood vessels in your skin, leading to impaired blood flow and delivery of oxygen and nutrients to your skin. Tobacco smoke also damages collagen and elastin, which keep your skin strong and elastic. Regular exposure to the heat of burning cigarettes also contributes to the formation of wrinkles.
In short, quit smoking and steer clear of people who are smoking if you don’t want wrinkles forming prematurely.
Limit exposure to the sun
The sun’s UV rays can damage your skin and cause wrinkles. If you already have wrinkles and enjoy sunbathing, then it’s likely that they were caused by constant sun exposure. You must ease up on your tanning habit and use a good SPF product daily to reduce your wrinkles and keep new ones from forming.
Eat right
Limit your diet to foods like fruits and vegetables, as well as salmon, trout, mackerel, tuna and other fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Your skin will thank you for such a nutritious anti-aging diet.
Use home remedies
There are lots of natural remedies out there that can help reduce wrinkles. Massaging your face with coconut oil before going to bed is one. The lemon juice honey dab is another. The clear gel from an aloe vera plant also works well for wrinkles, thanks to its wound-healing and soothing effects on the skin. You can also try an egg white mask to tighten, tone, and shrink the pores of your skin. Some apply a paste made from sugarcane and turmeric regularly. Of course there are a bazillion products to purchase in stores.
Facial exercises
To tone and tighten the muscles of your body, you have to work out. The same also happens to apply to your face. You can reduce wrinkles, reduce a double chin, lessen puffiness and improve your skin texture by performing facial exercises.
Say no to sugar
Science has already established that refined foods and sugars contain substances that cause adverse effects on your body, including prematurely aging your skin. So say goodbye to sugary drinks, doughnuts, cakes, and other products that are much too sweet for your skin and overall health.
Drink water
The skin is 64% water, so it’s only right to replenish it by drinking more H2O. Hydration is an indispensable component of maintaining healthy and young-looking skin.
These are just some of the natural ways to reduce wrinkles or slow down their formation. If you can do them all, then your chances of living a less wrinkled life are going to get better.
