Hello! My name is Tamara Dungan and I guess it goes without saying that I’m a makeup junkie. I’m so excited for this opportunity to contribute to Makeup Obsessed Mom!
I’m 43 years old and a lifelong Indiana Hoosier. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 19 years and we have two daughters ages 15 and 4. No, we weren’t crazy enough to plan it that way…sometimes life throws you a curve ball. My husband and I are in the plumbing and heating business and my teenager is very active in volleyball and softball so we are always on the go. My favorite things to do in my downtime are reading, watching makeup videos on YouTube, and getting subscription boxes. I’m hopelessly addicted to beauty subs.
I love both high end and affordable products and I’m always trying new things.
Here are a few of my current obsessions.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation – You would think that at my age, I wouldn’t have to deal with oily skin as much, but my T-zone still looks like an oil slick toward the end of the day with most foundations. Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation is the best I’ve found for keeping that oil at bay. It gives good buildable coverage without feeling cakey. I’m still searching for my holy grail foundation but in the meantime, I’m pretty pleased with this one.
Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Stay-Matte Hydrator – Going right along with my oily t-zone are huge pores. I honestly fight my pores more than I fight wrinkles. At least I earned those wrinkles…these pores have no business here. So, one of my main missions in life is to find what products actually work to shrink or at least hide these pesky pores. I use this Clinique moisturizer every morning and it really does help. It makes my pores less noticeable and does a great job of moisturizing my skin.
Moda Prismatic Face Perfecting Brushes – I’ll admit that I cannot resist a pretty brush. So many times I’ve been burned by a pretty package that didn’t deliver. These Moda Prismatic brushes by Royal and Langnickel however, are amazing. They are super soft and easy to use. The largest one helps me apply my foundation in about 30 seconds flat. Plus, they’re easy on the pocketbook which makes me appreciate them even more.
Milani Rose Blush – I love this blush so much. I’m not being dramatic either…I really truly love it. When it comes to blush, I don’t like an overly pigmented formula. I’d much rather build it up than look like Krusty the Clown after one swipe. This Milani blush has such an easy buildable formula. It really makes it super easy to perfect a natural look and this shade, Tea Rose is just so pretty. The price point is budget friendly and can we just take a minute to admire the beautiful rose and packaging that is nicer than most high end blushes? Seriously, it’s one of my favorite things in the world!
Tarte Maneater Palette – This palette is so easy to use. It’s my get ready for work quickly but still look put together palette. It has great neutral colors and the formula is so easy to work with. It includes a great base shade, pretty transition shades, highlights, and darker colors to use for the outer corner or as your liner. I use every single shade in this palette and that’s saying something!
I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED TAMARA’S INTRODUCTION ALONG WITH HER CURRENT FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS. STAY TUNED FOR INTRODUCTIONS IN THE COMING WEEKS OF A FEW MORE MAKEUP OBSESSED MOMS.

Welcome, Tamara! I have a big gap between my kiddos as well. Not planned, but worked out just like it was supposed to. I am with you, I struggle with my pores MUCH MORE than my wrinkles, so I’m very tempted to try that Clinique pore refining solutions. You listed some great products!

Thank you!!! I really do love that Clinique. I tried the Kiehl’s one and it didn’t play well with my foundation. You would think 11 years between kids would keep them from fighting but nope…they’re typical sisters that fight. But they have their sweet moments too. It’s almost like having an only child x 2 isn’t it? Lol

Nice to meet you, Tamara! I wanted to buy those Royal & Langnickel brushes, but they were out of stock every time I went to the site. I ended up buying another brand that I put away somewhere and can’t find. Milani’s rose blushes are a long time fave of mine too

Thank you! Nice to meet you too! I hate it when I forget where I put stuff! Getting older sucks. Lol. I found my Moda brushes at Walmart! And, they were cheaper their than on the R&L website 😉

There, not their…can’t believe I did that…lol. It’s one of my pet peeves 😳

I just noticed Stacie added a link to the brushes at Walmart! Just FYI 🙂

What a great review and very well written! You always look pretty… even at the volleyball gym and ball parks… and I’ve seen you plenty of times at both!

Awww! Thank you! Although when I’m sitting in 90° weather with my face melting off, I doubt it looks very pretty. Lol

Congratulations on your first blog post Tammy! It is awesome that you are writing about something you love. Great job! From one of your oldest, non makeup wearing friends.

Awww! Thank you! One can always count on their best friend to comment. Lol. If I had your beautiful skin, I wouldn’t wear makeup either 🙂

Nice to “meet u”! I love that Milani blush too. Still have not tried the double wear yet but I’m dying to.
Tamara Dungan says
Yes girl! You need to try the Double Wear. Although I’m hearing really good things about the new one…I think it’s called Double Wear Nude? And that blush is so pretty! I’d recommend it to anyone.

So nice to read what your favorites are. I have that Milani blush sitting unused, don’t hate me! I guess it’s time to go through my unpacked boxes to find it.

That’s the beauty of makeup, we all have different loves for different reasons. Plus, blush is very subjective. It depends on skin tone, coloring, all sorts of factors. It is fun to go through our stash occasionally and find a hidden gem that we didn’t even remember we had. Thanks for reading!

At 55 I’m afraid to wear powder, defines my fine ,well deserved, lines! Wish I could fine a good one as it sets my foundation to last longer! Also, what is the best eye liner that doesn’t smear?
Tamara Dungan says
Have you tried the Laura Mercier loose powder? I’ve heard it’s really good. I’m not a big powder user either but I use a translucent compact powder and a brush and put a teeny bit in my t-zone and use whatever’s left on the brush for the rest of my face. I’m loving the NYX HD Finishing powder. Plus, it’s affordable! As for eyeliner, do you use a liquid or a pencil. Liquid, you can’t go wrong with Kat Von D or Stila and for pencils, the Makeup Forever Aqua is great and I actually really like Younique’s eyeliners. For an affordable option, the Maybelline Unstoppable or Rimmel Scanadeyes are both highly recommend. Thanks for readying Mary! Hope you’re doing well!

Milani Tea Rose is such a perfect blush! I wear a lot of neutral shades so it’s in constant use.
