Books on My Winter Reading Shelf

January 3, 2019

I love reading. Reading takes me away to some magical places as well as to some dark places from time to time. I thought it would be fun for me to share some of the books I currently have on my winter reading shelf. I’ve started some of these, and others I’m waiting to start until after the others are finished. There’s only so much my middle age brain can handle at once. LOL!

I love getting book recommendations from others, and I also enjoy making recommendations myself. I posted back in the summer about books I was reading then. Have a look at those too, because all books are good to read any time of the year.

winter book recommendations

The current situation on my nightstand.

I recently started using the Good Reads website to find books that are of interest to me. This also helps me to keep track of what I’m reading, share my recommendations (along with ratings) and find new books to read as well. You can connect with friends on the site and share what you’re reading, what you like, recommend, etc. If you use the site please visit my profile so we can connect.

My reading for the first of this year focuses mostly on self-help, blog help, autobiographies and a little fiction thrown into the mix. I’ve found that non-fiction books have been my picks for the past few months. However, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the novels that I read, especially the ones from Oprah’s book club recommendations. The sign of a good book for me is one that makes me read late into the wee hours of the morning.

What do you look for in a good book these days? Let me know if you have any recommendations for me as well.

I just got a subscription to Boxwalla’s Book Box and am very much looking forward to receiving my first box soon. It looks like a great way to discover authors I might not have noticed before. My first box is going to contain books by an Israeli novelist and a Pakistani novelist. I am going to add The Tattooist of Auschwitz to my list as well.

I’m sharing some of my best sellers from the pas I’m sharing some of my best sellers from the past few weeks because they’re also some of my favorites. As you can see, I’m a pretty casual outfit kind of gal most of the time.

I do love getting dressed up too, but casual is my go-to every day style.💗

Are any of these outfits calling your name?

Just say shop and I’ll magically send you the info.

I’m sharing my Glow-Up Routine for Women Over 50 I’m sharing my Glow-Up Routine for Women Over 50 for a beautiful natural makeup look that enhances the beauty of mature skin and protects it from the sun. It’s makeup and skincare in one! I love a multitasker, don’t you?

What I used:
Universal Tinted Moisturizer: This is a lightweight tinted moisturizer with SPF 46 that gives sheer coverage and a natural glow. It nourishes and hydrates with hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and a high concentration of niacinamide (vitamin B3). It blends out perfectly for all skin tones.

Luminous Eye Corrector: This product comes in 4 peachy shades to cancel out under eye circles and darkness. It stays all day, doesn’t crease and gives perfect coverage without looking cakey. It has mineral SPF 41 to protect that delicate skin under the eyes.

Lip Silk: Deeply hydrating lip color that’s formulated with Squalane, Meadowfoam, & Peptides to nourish and soften lips without bleeding into lip lines. Available in 2 shades Soft and Bold. It has mineral based SPF 40 to protect lips from the sun and also from blue light.

These are fantastic skincare products that make you feel good in your own skin & they’re linked in my profile!💫

Sunday funny… Yes, this is how I think!🙃 The Sunday funny… Yes, this is how I think!🙃

The Costco parking lot is always so crowded and full, but a rainy day keeps lots of shoppers away so I could score a great parking spot right now.

I recently went to the Southlake, TX location of S I recently went to the Southlake, TX location of Skin Pharm for a little Dysport refresh with the incredible Rebekah.💖

I really appreciate her knowledge and skill, but what impresses me the most is the way she listens to my concerns about my aging skin and she does everything she can to help make me feel more confident.

She educated me on the latest products and treatments available and we decided together that Skinvive is something that I might want to try in the future. Have you heard of it? It purely for hydration and not for volume.

You can see my highlights with my previous treatments at Skin Pharm too.

Skin Pharm is a clinician-founded, female-led cosmetic dermatology practice with locations in several states including TX, GA, NC, SC and TN.

Oh, and their skincare products are amazing! You can purchase them right from their website too! I highly recommend their cleansers, the eye sculpt cream, the Youth Serum and the new Face Whip.💫

✨Right now they’re running a special where you get FREE cleanser AND Crystal Clear with any treatment through 5/30/25.✨

Book your appointment at @skinpharm asap so they can take care of you too!
