Happy Sunday to all! Welcome to another volume of Sunday with Stacie (aka my “random thoughts” post for the week). After a whirlwind of a busy as heck week, where I may have coughed up part of my lungs), I was so happy to just be by myself for the weekend. My husband’s at the Master’s golf tournament for the last few days, so after spending time with my daughters and grand babies on Friday morning, afternoon AND evening, I had a bunch of time to myself. I told myself that I could just be lazy and not do much or I could be be super productive and get a whole lot done instead. Which do you think I chose? A little bit of both. LOL!
Well, once the grandkids left my house, I relaxed on the couch and ate a delicious cheese and cracker plate while watching some basketball on tv. And then I was reenergized and motivated to get some things done… I organized my office, cleaned the kitchen, prepared a few Instagram posts, steamed some clothes, did a small load of laundry and wrote a blog post. Not bad for a Friday night! The rest of the weekend has been equally productive. I won’t bore you with all the details, but I hope you had a lovely weekend as well.
Melanoma Awareness Month
If you’re a new follower of mine, then you may not know that my mom passed away from melanoma. I’ve talked about it here on my blog and on my YouTube channel for years. I walked in my first Aim for a Cure Melanoma Walk in Dallas back when my mom was still alive. She passed away in 2012 and I’ve continued to walk every year since (except for when it was cancelled during the pandemic). May is Melanoma Awareness month and the walk is usually the first Saturday of the month. For some reason though, this year’s walk is next weekend on April 20, 2024 in Dallas. They changed the date and the location this year. My brother will be flying in from Maryland to walk with me again this year. It’s one of the ways we honor our mother.
Shopping for Makeup
I will be completely honest here and say that I really don’t get out to brick and mortar retail stores to shop for makeup as often as I used to. I prefer online shopping for pretty much everything. However, you know I do love my makeup and skincare products, but I’m sent a lot of products to review, therefore I don’t need to shop unless it’s for more specific things that I need. I was actually in a Sephora store this week and picked up a few products. None of them were on my radar. I like to buy things that inspire me to buy them. I ended up buying a clean beauty lip plumping lip balm, an spf and a tinted moisturizer BB cream that has skincare ingredients in it.
My Fingernail Saga
I had nails called Light Concept Nails for for about 18 years. I faithfully went to my nail girl every other Wednesday at 9:00 am. But a few months ago I decided that I wanted to take a break. I ended up getting the Dip Powder nails for a bit and then I decided to just stop everything and let my nails heal and breathe. So, I’ve been doing my own nails at home. I have the Nimble robotic nail polishing machine, but it’s not the best yet. They ai technology is amazing, but manicures take a long time and the machine often under and/or over polishes. Therefore, I’ve been playing around. I’ve mostly been using nail proteins to strengthen and repair my nails. And I may have even used some press on nails that were so easy to use and didn’t even require any glue.
Retail Therapy
I go through phases where I shop for clothing and accessories more than other times of the year. This usually coincides with the change of seasons. Well, the seasons must have changed because I’ve been shopping til I’m dropping lately. I will share some of my new clothing, shoes and accessories soon just in case you need some outfit inspiration. Most items are in the very affordable range.
That’s it for me! Thanks for reading my weekly series and catching up this week.
