The minute I received an email from Sephora notifying me that the Hourglass Modernist Palette that I’d been lusting over was available for sale, I headed over immediately to make my purchase. I’m a huge fan of many Hourglass products and this palette looked gorgeous. The Modernist palettes are available in seven different options. They all look beautiful to me. Each palette has five different eye shadow colors that have a variety of textures and finishes. The shadows can be applied rather sheer or can be built up for additional coverage. Each palette retails for $58.
Here’s my Hourglass Modernist palette review for your reading pleasure. I purchased the palette Monochrome, which is the rose tones. I love rose tones with all eye colors. I think all of the colors are beautiful and blend out well. The shadows are nice and creamy feeling for a powder product. They weren’t chalky at all to me, as I’ve heard some of the others have been.
This palette is a little bit on the expensive side for just five eyeshadow colors. I do love these colors, but really feel like you can pass on this palette and get one such as the Naked 3 (also rose tones) from Urban Decay for a better value. It has double the number of eyeshadow colors in the same color range and also offers a variety of textures and finishes.
Let me know if you purchased any of the Hourglass Modernist Palettes and what you think of them. Thanks for stopping by!

I love all things Hourglass (except photographing them – so hard!!!). I skipped on the new shadow palette because it started triggering my OCD issues. Haha! I like my shadows in neat compartments. I started stressing out about the colors blending with each other, what would happen if you hit pan on one color – so I decided to skip it. They are gorgeous though!

I do agree that the palette is pretty expensive for only 5 eyeshadows, but I was happy to see that the amount you get of each color seems to be a pretty decent size.
I haven’t purchased this palette yet — I think I’m kind of waiting for it to be available in stores at Sephora so I can play around with it. Thanks for sharing the swatches. They look pretty pigmented — and they’re all colors I would use. 🙂

Hourglass always sucks me in with their amazing packaging and gorgeous shade range, but sadly I haven’t heard very many good things about these palettes. The shadows are gorgeous, but I agree that UD Naked 3 is away better value!

I agree. These are pretty, but I’d rather have the Naked 3 over this one. Thanks so much for stopping by! Stacie xo

I think i would rather buy the naked 3 palette as an eyeshadow , but the rose nude, peony pink & light mauve seem perfect to use them as a blush!

That’s true and makes this palette a multi-tasker. Thanks for stopping by! Stacie xo
