Are you a fan of long-lasting lip products? I’m forever on a quest to find lip products that last for hours without touching them up. In addition, they can’t flake and crack. And most importantly they absolutely cannot make my “more mature lips” look like dried up shriveled raisins. Many of the products on the market these days that are touted as long-lasting are matte and are simply not flattering on anyone over the age of 30. They often emphasize lip lines and there’s nothing flattering about that look. Don’t get me wrong, matte is fine if it’s the right formula.
Let’s take a look at the long-lasting lip products that have been rocking my world lately…
The Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge Liquid Lipstick is waterproof, highly pigmented, and smudge-proof. It stays on forever. It doesn’t dry my lips out. It looks great all day. I can wipe my lips with a napkin and drink from a glass with my lipstick staying in place. If you haven’t tried this one, I highly recommend that you do. This formula can be worn matte or you can use the included clear gloss to add shine.
YSL Glossy Stains have been a favorite of mine for a few years. I love the fruity scent of all YSL lip products. These are opaque and lightweight. They go on shiny and actually stay that way for several hours through meals and drinks as well. If you haven’t tried one of these I suggest you give them a try.
The next two products are newer to me and they have quickly earned a spot on my favorites list.
Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment is another weightless formula with intense pigment that lasts a long time without touch ups. It’s a more watery formula than the others and a little bit goes a long way. The applicator is good for getting a very precise application around the borders of the lips.
Dior Lip Tattoo is nice when you want a more natural looking or enhanced look to the lips. They describe it as a tinted ink that fuses with the lips transparently and lightly, boosting their natural color weightlessly with a healthy wash of color, and with incredible comfort. It can be worn alone or as a primer under lipstick. They claim that it will stay in place for 10 hours, but I haven’t gotten that kind of wear from it. However, a product that lasts 4-5 hours makes me pretty happy too.

What great picks, Stacie. I love long-lasting lipsticks provided that they don’t dry out my lips.

The YSL Glossy Stains are amazing! I’ve been a little curious about Dior’s Lip Tattoo. It sounds wonderful. Lately I’ve been really liking L’Oreal’s new Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipsticks. They are so longwearing that they can be a little difficult to remove.

I’d say the YSL ones are probably my longest favorite. I really think they should work on everyone. I tried the lipsense stuff recently, and talk about impossible to get off at the end of the day! Stacie xo

Because my lips are so darn dry, I hesitate to try too many long wear lippies because so many are too drying for me. I pretty much stick with the few that work: Stila Stay All Day, Jesse’s Girl Liquid Matte, and Jordana Balm that’s more like a lip stain. These look beautiful and very luxurious

Interesting that the Stila doesn’t dry your lips out. That one was terrible for me. I guess it goes to show that we all react to products differently. Stacie xo

I actually haven”t tried any of these particular lipsticks though I’ve got several from the brand. It’s nice to know what’s comfortable on.

I actually haven’t tried any of these, but have been wearing the ABH liquid lipsticks a lot. Allison is a fave.

That’s funny because I’ve never worn the ABH liquid lipsticks. I thought the one I tried way back when make my lips look old. You’re lucky, you can pull off any lip product! 🙂 Stacie xo

I saw the Dior Lip Tattoo yesterday, but it was sold out in the shade I wanted (Natural Beige). Maybe I can get it from another store.

I love the Dior and the YSL has been on my wishlist for a while…I’m just having trouble convincing myself to spend almost $40 on one lippie. Lol. I actually got convinced to try LipSense recently and was very impressed with the staying power although it was a little dry at first. The gloss did help, it’s just an inconvenience to keep reapplying.

We all deserve a luxury lipstick every now and then… I know, I’m an enabler. LOL! I can’t help myself. I think I’m one of the only people who didn’t like LipSense at all. Stacie xo
