Do you know about essential oils? They’re something newer to me. Essential oils are a great way to help you relax during stressful times or after a long day when you’re tired and need a healthy way to wind down. They can provide a natural remedy that works effortlessly into your lifestyle.
Below are some of the more common essential oils that people know about.
Lavender
Lavender is the most common essential oil that’s used for relaxation and calming purposes. It’s great for releasing stress and tension, relieving anxiety and making you feel more relaxed and peaceful. One way to use it is to put it in your bath as you soak. You’ll also benefit from its amazing aromatherapy properties. Another way to use it is to diffuse the lavender oil into the air. Diffuse it in your bedroom before you go to bed to help you relax and fall asleep more easily.
Chamomile
Similar to lavender, chamomile is another popular essential oil to make use of when you need to relax. You may have had chamomile tea before, which is known to help you relax your mind and body, particularly during your nighttime routine when you need to get ready for bed.
Chamomile is naturally a very calming and soothing oil. It also has some medicinal properties, so it is beneficial either way. You can make chamomile tea or use the oils in your diffuser or bath.
Geranium
Packed with powerful healing properties, this fragrant essential oil is extracted from the geranium plant. If you’re experiencing stress, anxiety and depression, try this floral scented essential oil Use geranium essential oil in a diffuser to scent a large space. You can also apply it to your skin, but only if you first dilute it with a carrier oil such as sesame oil. Never apply concentrated essential oil of any kind directly to your skin.
Rose
Rose essential oil is perfect for relieving stress and tension. You might see this in blends with other relaxing oils like lavender or geranium, but you can definitely use it alone as well. With rose oils, they are wonderful in a bath with some rose petals, or you can use a cream that contains the oil in it. Rub this on your skin at night or whenever you are feeling stressed. This helps to soothe you, while also improving your skin at the same time.
Ylang Ylang
This beautifully floral-scented essential oil will be instantly calming to you as you inhale its scent. Diffuse this oil, add it to a soaking bath or dilute it with a carrier oil and use it for a massage oil. Not only does this oil help with anxiety and depression, but it’s known to help aid in relaxation and insomnia.
Try essential oils and aromatherapy as a natural way to help combat stress in challenging times. Remember if you apply any oils to your skin, they need to be diluted with another oil first.
