I can’t believe that it’s back to school time. My summer has been so busy with travel that I’ve hardly been home at all. I actually just got home from a trip to NYC and a cruise to Alaska. Then came Charleston, South Carolina and now I’m in the Houston area for the weekend. Needless to say, when I got home from my trips I had several boxes waiting for me. It was literally like Christmas morning. My August Back to School Sephora Play Bag was one of the boxes that I tore right into. I love getting surprises like this in the mail every month. Sometimes they’re a hit and others they’re a bit disappointing.
The Sephora Play monthly beauty bag costs $10 per month. Each month you receive 5-6 beauty samples focused on the theme of the month. You never know what you’ll get, so that’s the only risk that you take. You can easily cancel your subscription at any time. They open up the ability to subscribe every so often, so if you want to try it out be sure to sign up when you can.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel – I consider this product to be my “go to” brow gel for the past few years. It’s a nice clear gel formula that holds the hairs of my brows in place. This is important for me now more than ever since I had my brows micro-bladed. This holds the real brow hairs exactly where I want them without getting that crunchy feel. I’m happy to have this as a travel size or a backup.
Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper – Infused with Volulip™ and hyaluronic acid, GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper instantly improves lip volume in three to five minutes, adding a pop of lip-boosting color while hydrating dry areas. The one included in this month’s bag is clear, rather than tinted. I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m excited to use it because I could use some serious lip plumping action.
Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick – I love the C211 color that was sent in this bag. However, I think I already received this same exact sample size shade at least 3-4 times already. I love the shade, but enough is enough! The color is Rose Wood which is a gorgeous, heavily pigmented extra creamy lipstick. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a universally flattering pink lipstick.
Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay – This is a purifying and deep cleansing type mask. I haven’t tried it yet, but I plan to soon when I can carve out some “me” time.
Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray – This product is amazing! I love adding texture to my hair, especially with my new haircut. Like all other products from the line, this smells fantastic to me. This is a dry, argan oil-infused texture spray for tousled, undone styles with long-lasting hold, texture, and volume.
There was a “bonus” product in the bag too which consisted of a foil packet of the Amika Bust Your Brass Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner. These were a waste for me because 1. I’m not blonde and 2. It would at least 4 packets of each product to have enough for my thick hair. The brand is great, so I’m sure the product is great for those who need this purple shampoo.

What do you think of this month’s Back to School Sephora Play Bag? Is it worth the $10 that I paid for it?

This looks like a pretty good bag to me. I find sample packets to be the least effective way to try a product– especially hair and body products because there is never enough to get a sense of how well they work, and often they don’t even have enough product for a single application!

Yes, I agree with you. The hair sample packets were just a little bonus item in this bag, so I wasn’t too disappointed. The bag was pretty good overall. Stacie xo

Much better bag this month than before. I often find that products can be sent over and over. MUFE must have sent Sephora thousands and thousands of that lipstick. The only time I like the single serving packets is when I’m interested in the product and want to smell it first.

I love the MUFE lipstick that you got in your bag. The color is absolutely lovely! I have received 3 of the other products in previous Play bags so except for the lipstick, I’m not regretting that I cancelled since I subscribed for a long time

I know, every time I think I’m going to cancel this one they send me things I like. Haha! I’ve been wanting to try a few other beauty sub boxes. Maybe I’ll switch around in January to start a fresh new year. Stacie xo

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel is my go to as well so I’d have love receiving that in a box and that shade of Make Up For Ever lipstick is for sure one I could see myself wearing.

Yes, I agree that’s a great product. I just always forget to use it. LOL! Stacie xo

I think $10 is a perfect price for it.
I actually think it´s worth it. How can I get it?
I also get good prices and good products in my town. Maybe I can share some of those with you to see if you´d like to post them in your blog.
