BaByliss MiraCurl Professional Curl Machine Review and Demo

June 26, 2013

I recently purchased the new BaByliss MiraCurl Professional Curl Machine.  It was a bit of a splurge at $250, but I thought it was worth it’s money since there are no exposed heating elements for me to burn myself on (which I often do with regular curling irons and curling wands).  There really isn’t much technique needed to use this hair curler.  In the video below I demonstrate the basics on how to use it.
The BaBybliss MiraCurl Pro has 3 controls that are adjustable to suit your particular needs.  There is a switch to 1. Control the heat  (3 heat settings up to 450 degrees)  2.  Adjust the timer (3 settings) 3.  Adjust the direction of the curls (left, right or alternating).  These are easy to operate and change.  It literally takes 2 seconds to switch the settings to make the curling iron more personal for your hair type.
Once you get the settings adjusted to your preferences you place a 1 inch section of hair into the machine.  (This is the only drawback that the sections must be pretty small for a thick haired person like me.)  As you clamp it closed, the hair is automatically drawn into the chamber.  As it is drawn in, the hair is wrapped around the inner mechanism and is heated from all directions.  When you hear the steady beeps at the end of the cycle (you can turn this off if you prefer) you simply open the clamp and the curled hair is released.  It is fast and simple to do.  If I can do it, you can too!
The verdict:

I would purchase this curling iron again.  I LOVE everything about it!  I just wish it was more affordable so that everyone that wanted one could purchase it.
What do you think?
*I paid for this product with my own money.  All text and words stated in this post and video are my own.  I am not being compensated in any way by anyone.

It doesn’t burn your head, the outside of does not get hot. You can start your curl where ever you like but if you want it to start at the root you can put the Miracurl right up against your scalp & it won’t burn you – I’ve done it.

I saw the price of this and the price of the Conair Curl Secret. They seem to be the same product however the Babyliss allows you to change how long you curl the hair for. I think that’s really the only difference. Not sure that it’s worth a $150 USD for basically the same product. The Conair is $99.00 USD plus tax in Walmart. The Conair one is a great dupe for the Babyliss! Thank you for the review! I was curious to see how different it was from the Conair. M.J.

When I purchased mine it was the only one available and I just had to have it. I still love it, however I’m sure the more affordable dupes that are out there now work just as well. Thanks for commenting! Stacie xo

Babyliss owns Conair. Babyliss Pro is the professional version of hair styling tools and Conair is for the general retail market. The Babyliss Pro Miracurl has a feature that alternates the direction of the curls whereas the Conair Curl Secret does not do that. I believe there are some other differences.

I read that if your hair is longer than shoulder length it won’t curl the whole strand….is this true!??

I have very long hair (middle of my back) and it works great! You just have to curl very small sections.

Not true at all. My hair is about 8 inches longer than that and it holds great. I still love this curler after several months of use. Stacie xo

Looks good! I have naturally curly hair, so, I guess I am lucky I don’t need to purchase anything to curl mine -BUT, I did want to see how it did, and it looks great! Glad you like the product!

Hmm. I’m obsessed with curling my hair when I do a show, but have never seen this gizmo (nor the Conair one). I’ll have to investigate, looks like it would be a fast thing to have backstage? Happy SITS day!

My hair is down to the middle of my back now. It works great, but you have to do very small sections at a time.

My hairdresser uses this on my hair when I go for my cut and colours. I absolutely love it but I do find it a bit pricey and have not purchased it as of yet. I think it will go on my gift list for my bd.

Yes, this is crazy expensive. It’s a great curling system, but probably not a must have. I do know that other companies have come out with similar ones for less money but I haven’t tried any of them yet. Thanks for stopping by! Stacie xo

One of my favorite jackets is the lightweight Pack One of my favorite jackets is the lightweight Pack-It Jacket. It’s a great option, especially when I’m on the go! #ad

It has adjustable elastic to cinch in the waist, a hood when I need it in the rain (this hair is a lot of work so I have to protect it)!😅

And the best part is that it can be rolled up into its zipper pouch and tossed it into my bag so I have it when I really need it! It came in handy on my boat ride yesterday!

It comes in several different colors as well as inclusive sizing, so there’s a jacket for everyone! Oh, and it makes a great gift too!
