Sephora does it again! I just received the May Sephora Play box and I’m excited to share the contents with you. This box was a little bit different from previous boxes. For starters, the booklet was on top of the box when I opened it, like usual. However it wasn’t a booklet anymore, it was a large poster size paper that was folded in four. The card that comes with the box was on the front/outside of the booklet rather than having it inside the back cover. I loved this because it was a better reminder for me to take the card out and put it into my purse to redeem next time I’m in a Sephora store. The card is used to obtain an extra 50 bonus points and a free one-on-one tutorial at the store.
I currently have somewhere around 4400 points in my account because I don’t redeem them often. I’m always waiting for something really great to use them on and that never happens.
The theme of the box is “The Forces of Nature.” Products are designed to be high performing and good for you too. This is a topic that I’m very intrigued by.
This was the first month that the beauty samples from the Play Box were in a fun cloth bag rather than just tossed into the box. I personally love this! The bag can be used for so many different purposes. As you can see, the design is bright colorful lips with the cute saying Let’s Beauty Together.
- The Origins Maskimizer, Drink Up and Clear Improvement Masks were the first goodies that I pulled out of the bag. I haven’t tried any of these before so I’m happy to have them.
- Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair is a deep conditioning hair mask. I love hair treats, and this is the nice hydrating type, which is right up my alley. It has a blend of avocado, sweet almond and argan oils, essential vitamins and biotin. It smells really nice too!
- The perfume sample this month is from Atelier Cologne called Orange Sanguine. It’s described as a refreshing burst of sweet blood orange and bitter orange peel paired with notes of geranium. It’s actually nice if you like citrusy scents. I think it’s quite nice for spring and summer.
- Another skincare product included in the box is the Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial. This is a lightweight overnight treatment that’s supposed to brighten and moisturize the skin. It’s rich in vitamin C and wild rose oil. I haven’t tried it yet but it sounds promising.
I’m always most excited about the lip products in any beauty box and this one didn’t disappoint. There were two products.
- The Tarteist Lip Crayon is a cute sample size. It’s a nice nude type of color that can be used to line and fill the lips. It has ingredients such as vitamin E and antioxidants to nurture the lips.
- The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi is one of the cutest, most convenient mini lipsticks I’ve ever seen. It is so tiny that it fits into my pocket. The color is a gorgeous bright pink and the formula lasted for hours on my lips.
Verdict: For $10, this beauty box filled with samples is a huge hit for my likes and needs. The only thing that’s included in this monthly subscription box that I’m not the biggest fan of is the perfume samples. With that being said, I have actually discovered a few scents that I normally wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I’m usually most thrilled to receive lip products and actual makeup samples in my subscription boxes, and this one didn’t disappoint.

I know! I was so frustrated last time when they did those cool perks and I blinked and they were gone. I know people that feel the same with this box though. It’s ridiculous that they send people emails to tell them that they’re off the waitlist and they blink and Sephora tells them never mind, too many sign ups. Eventually everyone will be able to get this box. Stacie xo

This was a good box. With the exception of the fragrance (which I have sampled and do not care for) I would have loved this one. I’m on the waitlist for this subscription and I can’t wait to try it. I hope that I don’t have to wait toooo long.
