My Valentine’s Day will be celebrated alone this year. My husband is traveling for work. This is really not very different from most years. My husband has traveled for his job for all of the 22 plus years that we’ve been married. It’s okay with me though. I always tell people that we are always like honeymooners because we get so excited to see each other after frequent periods of being apart. It really is true that “absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
Today I thought I’d share with you the story of how my husband and I met… You won’t even believe it!
It was May of 1988 when I moved to a new apartment complex to be closer to my new college. I spent quite a bit of time in the sun back in those days. Late in the day I would notice a cute guy going into his apartment right near the pool. I really wanted to meet him so one day after he got home I went and knocked on his door! I introduced myself and told him that I wanted to meet him. I also mentioned that I could see right into his apartment and noticed that he was drinking milk straight out of the jug. LOL! A few days later he saw me by the pool and asked me out. And the rest my friends, is history! Here we are 24 1/2 years later.
My sweet husband!! Shhh, don’t tell him I just posted a picture of him on my blog. |
He even goes walking with me! This is in Central Park in NYC this summer.
I hope everyone had a great day! |
