I’ve heard of the Rodial brand for quite some time but had never tried any of their products. I knew they had skincare, but didn’t realize they also carry a nice variety of makeup as well. Rodial is known most for their high-performance skincare essentials that address a range of skin concerns. The skincare is focused on anti-aging and uses some innovative ingredients (as you will see below). Their products are celebrity favorites. You can purchase Rodial products in stores and online at Nordstrom, Ulta, Blomingdales and more.
Let’s go ahead and talk about the products that I received for editorial consideration…
I’ll start by giving you my first impressions on two of the Rodial skincare products…
Snake Booster Oil – This is a “concentrated, hydrating facial oil for targeting expression lines and wrinkles. This oil works ‘behind the scenes’ to dramatically firm and tighten skin on a long term basis. Using our unique Syn®-Ake dipeptide, this mimics the effects of the temple viper’s venom, giving a mild freeze like effect to the skin to reduce expression line contractions to smooth and firm the skin.”
My first impression: This product has a very thin watery consistency. It blends right in and is absorbed quickly. It has an extremely mild scent that is a bit botanical in nature. I can’t say that my wrinkles have disappeared, but I look forward to experimenting to see what this product can do for me.
Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel – This is a “revolutionary anti-aging gel that volumizes and defines facial contours by plumping sagging skin through stimulating the production of collagen to help skin appear firmer and more lifted. Containing our unique dragon’s blood complex, sap from the Croton Lechleri tree, this forms a unique second skin-like film around the face which effectively protects, reduces redness and firms for a smoother, plumper, more youthful looking complexion. The bestselling product out of our Dragon’s Blood range, this is ideal for those with stressed or sensitive skin and who wish to achieve firmer, lifted facial contours.”
My first impression: I like this pump type of jar for delivery of the product. This is a nice creamy type of gel that also absorbs quickly into my skin. It is white and looks more like a lotion. It is very hydrating. It feels great on my face and neck. I don’t detect any scent at all from this product. Fingers crossed that it gives my complexion a more youthful look over time.
Now I’d like to share the Rodial makeup products that I tried…
Instaglam Contouring Powder – “In a universal shade to suit all skin tones, this buildable contour powder allows for controlled definition from a natural enhancement to a stronger contoured finish. Helping to create shadow where needed for a contoured look, sculpt facial features to the definition desired.” Retail $57
How it performed for me: I love this contour powder. It’s not too orange, nor too muddy. It works nicely for contouring the cheeks.
Eye Sculpt – “Rodial’s Eye Sculpt has a versatile pigment formula in a soft mousse-like texture, that can be used to enhance, define and sculpt the eyes or used as a brow tint. Its light, ashy brown tone can build from a soft natural enhancement to a deeper sculpted frame to outline the eye, easily transformable from a day to night look. Suitable for all skin tones.”
How it performed for me: I’ve mostly use the eye sculpt as a base for my other shadows. It works with either a brush or my fingertip. It blends out easily and can also be layered for a deep color on the lid when worn alone. The biggest plus about this product is that it stayed in place all day. I’m going to try it on my brows next because this is the perfect match for me. Retail $38
XXL Lip Liner in Nude – “The XXL Lip Liner from Rodial is a tinted lip liner with a creamy, soft formula that glides effortlessly on, creating the illusion of fuller, more defined lips. Offering high coverage and long-lasting, waterproof and anti-feathering wear, this lip liner will stay put. A plumping complex, including Vegetal Filling Spheres and Hyaluronic Acid ensure lips appear smoothed and plumped with long-lasting hydration.”
How it performed for me: I will start by saying that this nude lip liner is the perfect color. My photo does it no justice. The formula is supposed to also plump the lips, although I didn’t notice a difference for me. I’m impressed with the staying power of this liner. It literally lasts from morning until night and then has to be taken off. I can’t say I’ve ever tried another liner like it. This liner doesn’t feather on me at all either. I use this all over my lips on most days because I know it will stay around and I won’t need to reapply. Retail $22
