The Mac Nutcracker Sweet collection is here! This is Mac’s limited edition holiday release for 2016. I look forward to these special collections each year and this year is no exception. Actually, it’s one that I’ve most looked forward to. After all, who doesn’t have fond memories of seeing the Nutcracker ballet as a child? Here’s the intro from the MAC website that hooked really me in…
Leap into a magical land that’s a bit nutty, a little naughty, bursting with whimsy. Lose yourself in an eccentric kingdom of oversized treats and rosy-cheeked nutcrackers. Twist, turn and tumble deeper into the Land of Dolls. Our story has only begun…

The MAC Nutcracker Sweet Collection started selling on the web on October 20th, 2016. It will be debuting in MAC stores on October 27th, 2016. If you see something you want, I recommend that you shop on opening day. Things will sell out fast just as they did on the various websites. I received a very small fraction of this vast holiday collection. Be sure to look online at the entire assortment available. There are some great sets that are perfect for gift giving. The beautiful packaging will add to your desire to own something from this limited edition collection.
Process Magenta Pigment is a bright magenta. It’s a concentrated loose color powder for a wash of color or a more intense look. I’ve used it on my eyes and cheeks. Retail $22
Magic Dust Eye Shadows are a new, long-wearing shimmering pearl powder eye shadow with a unique silky texture, creamy to the touch. Retail $19
- Pretty Dainty is a pink coral shimmer that is creamy and blends out effortlessly.
- Mustache is black with gold sparkle – This one was a bit powdery to me and the gold sparkle had a lot of fallout.
Eye Kohl in Powersurge is a bronzed brown with gold shimmer. This eye liner has rich color and a silky smooth finish. Retail $17
Leap of Delight is a matte deep plum purple lipstick. Retail $18
I’m not too comfortable with bold lip shades, especially during the day. To ease my way into the Leap of Delight lipstick I apply it to my lips and then sheer it out a little with my fingers. This is my way of adapting certain lip colors.
My personal favorites from the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection (that I tried) are the Pretty Dainty Magic Dust eye shadow and the Powersurge Eye Kohl and (believe it or not) the Leap of Delight Matte Lipstick. I think you’ll love the fun packaging with this collection. The holiday sets are great for trying out a few products at a time. I love the lips sets that MAC put together and plan to purchase a few for holiday gifts.
